Historia
While reading psychiatrist Kay Redfield Jamison's groundbreaking account of bipolar disorder, An Unquiet Mind, Sarah Wilson discovered an ancient Chinese proverb that would change her life: To conquer a beast, you must first make it beautiful. Wilson, a best-selling author, journalist, and entrepreneur, had spent years struggling with her own beast: Chronic anxiety. And the words of this proverb would become the key to understanding her condition.

I found this book after searching for an audiobook to help with my sleeplessness and it turned out to be way more important, inspiring, funny, and educational than I could have hoped. Really grateful for this perspective and author. I definitely recommend this audiobook!

There is something extra special to hear Clarissa speak. I return to this audio over and over again when I’m at my highest and lowest feeling experiences. What an incredible journey it’s been listening and reading your works. Thank you for the peace and connection.

Historia
Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes, published in 34 languages and one of the most far-reaching artist-psychoanalyists of our time, teaches that in archetypal imagination, "Mother Night is the quintessential medial woman, the woman who can walk in two worlds... 'the one who knows' and who can reveal solid ways of living and unleashing creative life in both worlds."

Everything
Revisado: 06-17-21
Clarissa is hands down a name everyone must become familiar with. The stories and elements she dives into always help me explore my own shadows while feeling empowered. I gifted the women who run with wolves book to a best friend of mine when she was having a difficult time in life and she brought mother night to my awareness when I was going through similar challenges. Truly a gift that goes on.

Historia
Tell a stranger that you talk to yourself, and you’re likely to get written off as eccentric. But the truth is that we all have a voice in our head. When we talk to ourselves, we often hope to tap into our inner coach but find our inner critic instead. When we’re facing a tough task, our inner coach can buoy us up: Focus - you can do this. But, just as often, our inner critic sinks us entirely: I’m going to fail. They’ll all laugh at me. What’s the use?

Nicely done
Revisado: 06-17-21
Supporting fellow Columbia Alumna, I chose to listen to this book while experiencing really intense mind chatter myself. Ethan Kross explains relevant concepts and experiments really well and shares interesting stories that keep this both informative and engaging. Overall, a great book to those interested in understanding how to navigate our self talk.
