How did an author foresee many decades ago the craziness, exhaltation of mediocrity, and race to the bottom that our current times would suffer? Simple: she lived through the Bolshevick revolution in Russia and simply fictionalized what tools all Marxists use (unnacomplished intelligentsia craving for social status and to pretend they are doing good).

Great book, but a stark warning against the current wokeist Red Guard attempting to brainwash the youth and midwit intelligentsia of our time.

Some day in the near future President Trump, Congressman Devin Nunes & his team, reporters John Solomon & Sarah Carter, the members of the House Freedom Caucus, Lee Smith and a small group Of others will be heralded as “the team who saved America” for their efforts to tell the world what can happen when a bureaucracy goes off the rails and corrupt, power hungry administrators collude with dirty cops, corrupt politicians and their malicious, partisan and morally deficient media sycophants to try to frame good people in order to maintain their stranglehold on power.

I’ve kept a closer eye than most on the developments in these scandals, and there was a lot that I learned from this book - great job to Lee Smith for such thorough reporting.

I hope that we will be able to soon read and updated epilogue to this book which will include what the current ended lays out needs to come next - prosecutions for the guilty.

I learned a lot of new history here - mainly that the left has played these similar games and deployed similar deceitful tactics anytime a centrist or conservative judge has been appointed to the Supreme Court.

Since a majority of Americans won't vote for their disastrous policies, they choose to undermine the rule of law by writing legislation and instead focus on a left-leaning SC to do their budding.

Thank God it backfired on them this time, but not without their attempts to destroy a good man.

This book should be required reading before the next election cycle so we can hold these responsible for making a mockery of our nation to task and vote them out of office.

I absolutely loved this book! I wrote a similar trilogy named The Pact about WWIII from the ground-pounder Army & Special Operations perspective, and a reader suggested I pick this one up to see it from the Navy's POV.

A little scary that both these authors and I pinpointed the same enemies & same weaknesses in our reliance on technology and outsourcing our defense contracting - hopefully the military leadership today sees the same issues we did (we were woefully behind the cyber war during my Army days).

Fast-paced and a great listen/read for anyone interested in military fiction with detailed strategy, hardware and warfare descriptions.

I was a little hesitant given the authors previous works, but this one came highly recommended from someone whose taste I trust implicitly - and I'm very glad that i listened to her.

From a fan and author of military thrillers, I have to say that she knocked this one out of the park. Beautiful descriptions, action-packed scene and immense attention to detail. This is a diamond in the rough that I'lll be listening to again.

General Flynn has been involved in gathering intelligence for every US war effort and security since Grenada, as he outlines in Field of Fight.”

He is not giving his thoughts as an outside observer sourcing open source info and other accounts - he has more first-hand knowledge of the greatest threats to our nation than possibly any other person on the planet.

So when he says that he cannot win a war in which we refuse to name the greatest enemies to our nation, we should listen. He’s one of the few geopolitical pundits to have the first-hand knowledge and experience to know how to win our battles.

A great, insightful and entertaining listen for anyone who wants to know what happened behind the scenes for the past few decades of our military history and best way forward to tackle our current threats.

If you’re an SF history buff like I am you’ll love this book. Changiz is one sharp character, and although he bears no similarity to Forrest Gump in that respect, the fact that he’s been involved in most SF operations from Eagle Claw (Iran) up to Iraq and hunting Bin Laden in Afghanistan makes this a veritable “blow by blow” of SF since the 70’s. amazing. Thank God our nation has people like him.

I watched the movie quite some time ago, and as with most cases the book has proven to be a completely different, much more masterful animal than the big screen rendition. I only picked this up on recommendation from a book on writing that sung its praises for description and character development...very glad that I did.

it's few and far between that you find a novel that really makes you feel it, down to your bones, that you actually become a part of the story and find yourself thinking about the characters between reading or listening, but that's been my life for the past few weeks as I listened to Shantaram.

My fiance has been trying to get me to listen to this audiobook to influence my own writing and to help bring my descriptions to a new level... but it did much more than that.

The story and writing is so strong that I feel it should be taught in schools and to aspiring writers to help them understand the most important tool in a writers toolbox: a life well lived.

And the audiobook performance...I have yet to hear another that comes anywhere near what I just lived.

Kudos to the author and narrator... you've broken the mold on this one. And, of course, added Bombay to my bucket list now!
