Not a boring business book.
Revisado: 11-23-21
This could have EASILY been another "boring business book". Every bit of the wisdom in this book could have been communicated in the traditional format. But...
Quite simply, this is better. I got INVOLED and INVESTED in the characters. That made the information "stick". Stories within stories, plot twists, and all of the things that make up a great fiction novel are a bonus. They're just thrown in for sheer entertainment. But you still get the wisdom. You still get practical information you can put to good use today.
If you own or manage a business or department, this book is for you. There is simply no need for work to be awful. This book will guide you to the promised land of productivity without backstabbing, arguing, lies, finger pointing, and all the other things that serve no other purpose other than to bring down morale.
In a phrase, "humble leadership" is what is needed in the modern corporate world. Both parts are equally important. Yes, you will need to lead. But that doesn't require force. If you know how, you can get your employees to join you in a common goal rather than having to be pushed/dragged where they are needed. And everyone, including you, will be happier for it.
This book gets you there.
The narrator did a great job. The only reason I gave the performance a 4 is that Mr. Rooney has a GREAT voice. It would have been great to hear the book narrated by the man himself.
But the book is exceptional, none the less!

Super informative

Doc does a great job of balancing deep-in-the-weeds science with easy-to-understand English. I'm noticing a difference in my body and mind already. Hopefully I cam get my elderly parents onboard. They would benefit immensely from applying the knowledge contained in this book.

A wealth of information.
Revisado: 12-20-19
This book is crammed with valuable information. Max's performance is great (clearly passionate about the subject matter). I finished the audio version and immediately ordered the hardback version so I can make notes and mark pages with tabs. It took me over a week (busy schedule) to finish the audio version. I began to implement advice given in the book immediately while listening. I don't want to get into numbers, but it's working already. Mainly, I just "feel more alert", for lack of a better term. Looking forward to the new book in March.

Holy crap. Amazing.
Revisado: 10-25-19
I am not a runner. I wound up in a conversation with a friend the other night about how God had designed our bodies, and how we keep trying to "fix" his design. Through some twists and turns in that conversation, he mentioned this book sort of in passing. I figured I would give it a shot. Man, am I glad I did! What a story! What an eye-opening, information-packed, emotional and intellectual roller coaster!
You will not be disappointed! Listen, and wear a chin strap. Your jaw will be constantly dropping.

Simple yet potentially life altering
Revisado: 08-26-19
These chapters contain bite-sized bits of ridiculously practical advice. Take Joe's advice. DON'T try to force yourself to do everything in this book all at once. Try a few. If (more like when) they help you "feel better" (and, yes, I realize that is a simplified term for complex situations) try a few more. You will look up one day soon and realize that several small changes in your daily routine will lead to the strength and fortitude to dive a little deeper each time.
This book is brilliantly simple. It doesn't beat you over the head with any particular topic. But it DOES guide you to places where you can find more information if you are intrigued enough to go further in that direction. Joe doesn't try to convince you that you're wrong and he's right. He simply, and lovingly, shares what worked for, and continues to work for, him. But, in my view, much of what you read can be described as "universal". In other words, you don't have to have special skills, hours a day, or tons of disposable income to try a lot of what you find.
You can read/listen to any chapter in a matter of minutes. Many of the things discussed in the book can themselves be implemented in a few minutes a day, or even less.
I can't imagine your trying any three or four tips mentioned in the book and not being inspired to go further.
