Fun way to explore several authors
Revisado: 03-14-14
Where does Favorite Science Fiction Stories rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It's ok. Many of the stories are quite engrossing and/or leave me wanting to hear more of a story (this is a series of short stories so some feel cut short)
Which character – as performed by the narrators – was your favorite?
The characters did not have the most amazing performance. The readers were just ok but the many of the stories were great.
Any additional comments?
This is a great set of short stories. While the stories are relatively benign I would screen it if you intend to have a child listen to it (some of it may be too scary or have things younger children should not hear)

Slow start, light read, ok by the end
Revisado: 02-21-14
Any additional comments?
This book was entertaining to hear, not sure it would have been the same to read. I would say that it is an easy listen and did become compelling about half way through (before that it was just "ok"). It had a lot of things in it that appeared extraneous or like the author was trying too hard to fit as many fantasy concepts in as he could.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, with caution, there are very disturbing images and it is loaded with obscenities as it is almost in an interview style. But the information in this book should be known by anyone who votes in the US
If you could give Charlie Wilson's War a new subtitle, what would it be?
The Corruption of the CIA and How the US Aided its Enemies
Any additional comments?
This was made into a movie I have not seen. I cannot imagine how the movie managed to capture the vast amount of information contained in the book.

What disappointed you about METAtropolis?
There were several mini stories but only one of them was interesting, unfortunately none of them really had much of a story line and they all seemed to be incomplete or vastly underdeveloped.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
boredom and annoyance at times. I stuck with it because of the multiple stories and the short duration of each but my patience was not rewarded

Science starts to get interesting when things don't make sense. Science's best-kept secret is that there are experimental results and reliable data that the most brilliant scientists can neither explain nor dismiss. If history is any precedent, we should look to today's inexplicable results to forecast the future of science. Michael Brooks heads to the scientific frontier to meet 13 modern-day anomalies and discover tomorrow's breakthroughs.

If you could sum up 13 Things That Don't Make Sense in three words, what would they be?
Fully fascinating facts.
Any additional comments?
While the author did have a clear agenda at times (despite his multiple warnings to be objective) the book provided a very interesting case study of 13 items science is currently unable to explain or that there is debate regarding. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to know what is going on or enjoys learning in general

Same tedious reader, same so-so story
Revisado: 12-18-12
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
If they were looking for a light listen/read on vacation, I would recommend it. Getting the first book would only marginally help in understanding this one.
What didn’t you like about Nick Sullivan’s performance?
Blocky: sounds like there is a period after most words. It sounds as if he is trying to hard to sound victorian.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Probably better as a movie than a book.
Any additional comments?
Not my cup of tea. I might possibly get the third in the series but this one is not making me feel it.

Once again, the Kingdom of Gwynedd under young King Kelson found itself facing the horror of war between the Church and the Deryni. As the Pretender Queen plotted to free Meara from Gwynedd's control, and the ex-Archbishop hatched a devious plan, it looked like the peace of Gwynedd was to be a thing of the past.

OK story, un-natural feeling to the reading.
Revisado: 12-18-12
Is there anything you would change about this book?
The narration is blocky and sounds as if it is if there is a period after most words. While the diversity in voices by the narrator are good, the voices themselves are anoying. The plot is ok but the actual writing is fairly cliche.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
Fine- despite the criticism I have for the book, the ending made me want to know what the next book would hold.
How could the performance have been better?
(see what I would change about the book)
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
It would make a much better movie (if done well) than book.

Good acting, difficult to follow at times
Revisado: 09-17-12
If you could sum up The Word of Promise Complete Audio Bible: NKJV in three words, what would they be?
Fairly good rendition
What other book might you compare The Word of Promise Complete Audio Bible: NKJV to and why?
Nothing compares to scripture but other suggestions for further study are, "Mere Christianity" by Lewis The Heidelberg Catechism and"Jesus Through Middle Eastern Eyes" by Bailey.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, It is about 5 gigs of audio (more than a day's worth)
Any additional comments?
Slight catch on this audio Bible: The chapters and sections are not labled well in the audio and the track breaks are several books long. This makes it difficult to tell exactly where you are if you are trying to read along or look up what you just heard. I Do enjoy the narration and the acting that wend into the story telling and found it enriching but also a little confusing at times when it was difficult to tell who a voice was supposed to be when the narration did not specifically say. I might try a different audio Bible at some point to see if it is easier to follow. I think that children will find it especially engrossing as it incorporates entertainment value. I demoted it a start just because of my difficulty in following it the way the tracks were broken up and a personal preference item (some of it seems a little over-acted) otherwise it appears fairly solid.
