Historia
He's a self-described beach bum who won his houseboat in a card game. He's also a knight errant who's wary of credit cards, retirement benefits, political parties, mortgages, and television. He only works when his cash runs out, and his rule is simple: he'll help you find whatever was taken from you, as long as he can keep half.

Reflects sexual relationships of the mid 60's
Revisado: 09-02-17
Would you try another book from John D. MacDonald and/or Robert Petkoff?
I've listened to more recent stories of Travis and I was surprised at how much has changed since the series started. This book from 1964 reflects the start of the sexual revolution and Travis discusses his opinion of women and sex in this book.
Any additional comments?
I enjoyed the more recent books more because I like the focus on the mystery and how Travis solves the problem.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
The characters in this book are well written and exciting. I can't wait for the next book in the series.
What did you like best about this story?
The characters are so well written you feel like they are people you know. It is nice to watch the characters evolve.
Which scene was your favorite?
The hotel scenes create a great "waiting for the next shoe to fall".
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
This guy gets in so much trouble. Several times you are waiting to see if the characters will live until the next scene.

But that doesn't mean that what Trudy overhears there during her great-aunt Gertrude's funeral won't change the rest of her life. Trudy has a daughter in the middle of a major rebellion, a two-timing husband who has been cheating for their entire married life, and a mother with Alzheimer's residing in the local nursing home.

Slice of a dull but lucky life
Revisado: 07-12-17
Any additional comments?
Books starts with a good premise but then everything that happens is so nice that there is no suspense or anticipation just one lucky lady. Dull and predictable.

Historia
For as long as Magnolia Steele can remember, the past has had its hooks in her. Her time as a Broadway actress in New York City was an escape that ended in public humiliation, but now that she's back home in Franklin, Tennessee, she's feeling the grip of the two incidents that stole her innocence. The first was the disappearance of her father when she was a teen, who left home for a meeting and never came back. The other incident...well, her memories have returned, but it's best left where it belongs - in the past.

Where is the ending?
Revisado: 11-24-16
What did you love best about Act Two?
Fun, easy to listen to and engaging.
What did you like best about this story?
I enjoyed and was engaged by the characters.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Yes, I want to know the rest of the story.
Any additional comments?
This book does not have an adequate ending. It's clear that to know the rest of the story you need to listen to the next book which isn't written yet. I listen to a lot of series books but most have an adequate ending and move to another story with the same characters.
