Historia
After nearly two years and with one token left to hide, a powerful magical event hits Talohna and causes the failure of the most important spell Kael has ever cast. The horrific results leave him a wanted man and all of his efforts to form an alliance against the Ri’Tek fall apart. With the tokens hidden at last, Kael wants nothing more than to forget the past and to spend time with his family, but knowing they will never be safe no matter where they hide, he recruits Treach in a bid to scour the Arcane Library catacombs for an answer.

Ennui through exposure
Revisado: 06-06-25
when you raise the stakes every chapter of the book, sooner or later you leave the reader apathetic.
Curse also feels much less cohesive than the rest of the series so far. It spands some 5-6 years and sometimes makes wild jumps with only the vaguest handwavey "and then we solved that problem....moving on"
the first 3 books felt like Franx had a clear plan for where the story was going, and how to get there.
Curse feels like Franx have lost the plot, and is desperately trying to find the way back.
i will give the next book a chance, but only becourse i really like the first 3.
would recommend everyone who plans to pick this up, pick up the 3.5 book Northmen up first.
its not quite up to snuff with the first 3, but its decent and becomes very pertinent the last few chapters of this one

lazy
Revisado: 05-11-25
in the other books the Northmen are clearly inspired by Vikings. Fair, being inspired by mythology has been a thing since the time of said mythology.
Taking the Norse Pantheon and religion and dumping it comepletly unchanged into Talona is just Lazy....

Historia
Ashley Perrin is fresh out of college and starting a job as a community liaison for the Third District–the city’s only sector with more alien residents than humans. Ashley’s barely found where the paper clips are kept when she’s beset with constituent complaints–from too much noise at the Annual Lupidian Celebration Parade to a trip-and-fall chicken to a very particular type of alien hornet that threatens the very city itself. And if that’s not terrifying enough, Ashley is next up at the office karaoke night.

Historia
It's kill or be killed in the space penitentiary that houses the galaxy’s worst criminals, where convicts face off in gladiatorial combat while an underworld gambling empire reaps the profits of the illicit blood sport. But the newest contender in this savage arena, as demonic to behold as he is deadly to challenge, is fighting for more than just survival. His do-or-die mission, for the dark masters he serves, is to capture the ultimate weapon: an object that will enable the Sith to conquer the galaxy.

least of a great series
Revisado: 01-02-23
the greater good was a decent book, but unlike most of the earlier books in the series i never laughed out loud doing the reading
the story is also far more predictible, all of its twists being pretty obvious
lastly the book is called for the greater good, and yet the Tau are barely in it which I tought was a damn shame

60 short stories, 10-20 of any real value
Revisado: 07-12-22
H.P. Lovecraft wrote hundredes and hundredes of short stories, and yet most people has only ever heard about let alone read a handfull of them...
there is a reason for that... 9 out of 10 a near unreadable/unlisenble, being either pure word salad, or worse, just plain boring....
Buuuut the few good works, are pretty damn good
so yeah this is a collection of lesser known works, and I would say 1/5th is pretty good and the rest is garbage
the comedy poem both suprised me and mad me giggle though

Trapped between life and death, he learns that his friends are in serious trouble. Only by finding his murderer can he save his friends and move on - a feat that would be a lot easier if he had a body and access to his powers. Throughout the tortured galaxy, Ephrael Stern is known by many names. The Thrice-born. The Daemonifuge. The Heretic Saint. Trapped deep within Imperium Nihilus following the coming of the Great Rift, the maligned Sister of Battle fears the Imperium is no more. The God-Emperor’s light, which has guided her through centuries of strife, has too extinguished. Seemingly forsaken, Stern is bereft until a mysterious stranger arrives, offering her a new destiny. One that might yet see the Imperium saved. Stern must prove herself worthy of the God-Emperor’s grace once more.

Decent but utterly inconsequential
Revisado: 10-06-21
This book is little more then an excuse to sell Ephrael Stern as a model, and allow her use with Sisters of Battle armies
Now i like the return of one of the cool characters from the late 1990's, but if you dont know about Daemonifuge, you will learn next to nothing in this book
All that said, its a decent little action novel, an did enjoy my time with it
