Historia
The captain of the hockey team has a lot of responsibilities, but when it's just us, all he wants is to be my good boy. Senior year should have been the same as the previous years: football, hookups, and homework. But after the season ended, somehow, Joey Carpenter happened. He's weaseled his way under my skin, into my heart. The strong, intimidating hockey player melts so beautifully for me, and I'm addicted. He pretends like he doesn't need anyone, but I see him. See what he really needs. The longing to be cared for is there in his eyes.

Love this book! Been waiting for it!
Revisado: 02-19-25
I'm so glad this book finally has an audiobook. I started reading MM last year and came across this series pretty early in the MM journey. I fell in love with the characters, and their heartbreaking stories. The audiobooks were fantastic, I mean, how can they not be with Teddy Hamilton and Iggy Toma? Both my favorite narrators in the same book is just amazing. I was curious when they'd finally release book 3 as an audiobook, so when I saw this up for pre-order I bought it immediately!
I love the connection between Nick and Joey. They are definitely a bit codependent, but the way they help each other heal is great. This book wasn't my favorite in the series but it's still a great book!

I don't do relationships. I've been abandoned all my life, and I don't trust a soul except my own damn self. But there's something different about Jack Chance. From his lithe, gymnast's body to his soulful hazel eyes, he's everything I never knew I wanted. When he's wrapped up in my arms, begging for more, everything seems right about the world. I'm not boyfriend material - everyone in Abingdon knows that. I've got a moonshine-making hillbilly family, a heart hardened by war, and I walk into burning buildings for a living. Oh, and I'm still in love with my best friend.

Love this story!
Revisado: 01-28-25
I really love the storyline of this book. One of the main things I love is the conflict is mostly external, there's not a ton of drama between the two MC's. I read a ton of MM romance, and I find it very frustrating how many stories base the majority of the conflict on poor communication and misunderstandings. Lately it seems like so many of the books I've read have that in spades, so I love that this book has mostly external conflict and a really solid relationship between the MC's. That being said, the external conflict is heartbreaking at times and involves children and custody so if that's a problem for you you might want to pass on this one. As a mother it was really tough reading about the treatment of the three children on the beginning of the story. And this brings me to one of my main gripes about the story, is the children's ages. I love the way the kids are written in this, and the narrators do a good job with their voices, except sometimes the actions and wording of the kids really don't match their ages to me. Like the youngest boy for instance, he's 7, but the things he says and how he speaks come across more like a 4-5 year old most of the time. And the oldest boy is 11 but the way he's described sometimes seems more like an 8 or 9 year old. It's not a major issue, I just think the story could have benefitted from lowering each kids age by a couple years each.
Last but not least, the narrators. I love both narrators, but I do think they would have been better off if they switched characters. The deep voice of Tor Thom would have been great for Dillon. All in all, it's one of my favorite books. Highly recommend!

Absolutely Love! Amazing Performance
Revisado: 12-11-24
This book easily became a top favorite of mine. Nicky James is one of my favorite authors, so I wasn't surprised at how much I loved this story. I loved the mystery of it and was on the edge of my seat for most of the story. I thought the romance aspect was nicely added in without being made the major focus of the book. The performance of Nick Russo took this from great to amazing. He created such different voices for the characters, it was easy to fall into the story and easy to know who was speaking. I thought the voices he created for the characters really suited them. I think I've listened to this book at least 7 times already, and I love it the same every time! All in all, I highly recommend this book!

Revisado: 12-05-24
I couldn't get enough of this! This story was captivating! I cried more than once, laughed a bunch, and overall just loved this story. I loved the snippets of the animals we saw. Poor Gentry's story broke my heart. I loved that there wasn't some big miscommunication that caused a fight, that's got to be one of my least favorite tropes. This couple was strong and dedicated, and it was lovely to see. Can't wait to read book 2 and see more of Maddox and Isaac.

Harley: After the accident 10 years ago that put me in a wheelchair, I did my best to avoid the world and its drama. I lived alone and worked from home. I’d disappear into my safe space for days, maybe even weeks, at which point my cousin always showed up to drag me out of my house to interact with the world whether I wanted to or not. On one of our outings, I meet the most gorgeous man I’d ever seen in my life; Finn Becker.

Love the story! Minor issues
Revisado: 11-29-24
I really love the storyline of this story! it's absolutely 0 to 100 in terms of insta-love. They're saying "I love you" by day 4 of knowing each other lol. However, I like insta-love stories, so this didn't really bother me. Overall the story is adorable and fluffy, pretty much zero angst.
The only issues I had were the overuse of "my love", "my lover", "my sweet man" instead of just using Finn's name. It's cute sometimes, but there are moments where internal dialogue says "my love" like 5 or more times in a matter of a paragraph or two. It just started to feel incredibly repetitive and slightly annoying. If they'd replaced a few of them with just "Finn" it would have been better sounding. The biggebiggest issue was the audio editing. At one point in Chapter 6, I believe, the narrator accidentally messed up the line and then tried getting it right about 20 times in a row. It was funny to hear, and if this was a comedy it almost would have made sense to leave the error in as a joke, but with this story it just felt incredibly out of place. There were also a few times the narrator coughed(not in the script) and they weren't edited out. All in all it was an adorable story, but cartain things could have definitely been done better.

Pro hockey star Shane Hollander isn't just crazy talented, he's got a spotless reputation. Hockey is his life. Now that he's captain of the Montreal Voyageurs, he won't let anything jeopardize that, especially the sexy Russian whose hard body keeps him awake at night. Boston Bears captain Ilya Rozanov is everything Shane's not. The self-proclaimed king of the ice, he's as cocky as he is talented. No one can beat him - except Shane. They've made a career on their legendary rivalry, but when the skates come off, the heat between them is undeniable.

Absolutely Incredible!
Revisado: 10-16-24
I can't stress how much I loved this book. I've been on an MM kick for a few months now, a lot of which have beeb centered around hockey, and I've noticed a ton of tropes used very frequently in the genre. This book obviously hahad the secrecy that many of them have, but it wasn't full of predictable crap like some of the books I've read. The way the emotions were handled was so well done, and it felt very believable. I loved how the whole book unfolded, and I really loved the lack of annoying angst and miscommunication. That may be my least favorite tropes these books tend to have, an annoying level of miscommunication that makes you want to shake the characters. I absolutely loved Ilya and Shane's story, and I really can't wait to read the 6th book and get a continuation of them!
Also, note on the narration. I am definitely not Tor Thom's biggest fan by any means(see book one for his..interesting... accents) but I think he actually did pretty good with this book! I actually liked the wayIlyas's accent was handled. It could have been better, but it was enjoyable enough to not deter from the book like Kip's accent in book 1.
Overall highly recommend the book!

When I'm looking for a hookup, I want three things: big, thick, and rough. So it doesn't make sense that I can't get my new hire out of my head. He's a tiny guy with big ideas...and he's my apprentice, which means he's completely off-limits. But he's already under my skin. And for the first time with any guy, I don't think I can hold my own against him. Physically, yes. Emotionally, no. Auggie makes me weak.

Cute love, somewhat lackluster story
Revisado: 10-03-24
So overall, I liked this story. It was cute, and had some really adorable moments between the MC's. I liked the appearances of characters from the previous books in the series. I think the part I was disappointed with was the actual storyline. It seemed like certain things were a bit flip floppy, like for instance Auggies father. In the beginning he acts like Auggie is a complete disappointment, to the point where he doesn't want him working at his company. Then towards the end he says that Auggie is well overqualified for the job Leon gave him and offers him a great position at his own company, saying he's talented and deserves better than what Leon gave him. I guess you could say this is his father trying to control him and get him to move home and not work for his competition, but that's never actually pointed out. Wer're left believing his father actually means it, and that doesn't make sense when you take his previous statements into account.
I liked the actual romance part of the story and that's the main reason I liked the book. It definitely wasn't my favorite in the series, but it was a decent book overall. Per usual the narration was great, love this narrative duo!

In my defense, I was left alone with a bottle of single-malt and a lifelong penchant for protecting my baby sister. Still, that's no excuse to send 10 drunk-texts on why her hasty marriage would be a mistake. If only I had just texted my sister. But nope. I accidentally sent the message to her, her groom, and his super hot wingman. I also used the phrase “super hot wingman”, so I’d like to die now.

I can’t express how much I loved this book! Per usual the narration is amazing, I don’t think I’ll ever say a bad thing about Teddy Hamilton or Jacob Morgan.
I genuinely love the back and forth between Asher and Mark, the banter is great. I laughed a lot while listening, and I thoroughly enjoyed the entire book. I listened in one sitting because I couldn’t put it down. I’m a big L Blakely fan and this one did not disappoint. Highly recommend!

In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue - Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is - she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

Revisado: 07-26-22
I really did love this book. I have always liked dystopia stories and I also have a sad love of young adult type romance, as much as I'd like to say I don't. This book was the best of both worlds! I finished in 2 days, and it would have been 1 if I hadn't had 8 hour work days! I'm definitely going to be continuing right onto the next one. I also really liked the narrator. I've listened to another series she read and I really enjoy her unique voice.
