Historia
You may be surprised to learn that microchips are the new oil—the scarce resource on which the modern world depends. Today, military, economic, and geopolitical power are built on a foundation of computer chips. Virtually everything—from missiles to microwaves—runs on chips, including cars, smartphones, the stock market, even the electric grid. Until recently, America designed and built the fastest chips and maintained its lead as the #1 superpower, but America’s edge is in danger of slipping, undermined by players in Taiwan, Korea, and Europe taking over manufacturing.

This is the best technology history book ever.

So good. Deep insight into business, geopolitics, physics and innovation. A grand synthesis where at the end you feel a euphoric sense of how everything and everyone is connected through time and geography via chip technology. Sent shivers down my spine as it finished.

Historia
What can a quantum computer do? If we have a sequence of 30 zeroes and ones, it has about one billion of possible values. However, a classical computer can only be in one of these one billion states at the same time. A quantum computer can be in a quantum combination of all of those states, called superposition.

Don't bother

This is some kind of moneymaking scam recording with no production effort or editing and unorganized content that seems copy pasted from other sources. The 5 star reviews are fake/scam reviews. Don't waste your credit.

Robotic and amateur reading quality with monotonous inflection, stutters, re-reads, and hesitations occurring in 1 in every 3 sentences. Appears to be unedited and unrehearsed.
Content contains minimal wisdom, guidance, or embellishment - seems to be mostly reference material. Reads like a set of notes or exam review facts that someone made while researching a book, not the final product itself.

Historia
Here for the first time, in rich human, political, and scientific detail, is the complete story of how the bomb was developed, from the turn-of-the-century discovery of the vast energy locked inside the atom to the dropping of the first bombs on Japan. Few great discoveries have evolved so swiftly - or have been so misunderstood. From the theoretical discussions of nuclear energy to the bright glare of Trinity, there was a span of hardly more than 25 years.

Amazing history of science and war
Revisado: 10-05-19
This was as much a history of the bomb as it was a history of physics of the 20th century. I loved the format of following, in parallel, the many scientists during the lead-up to and making-of the atomic bomb. It was such a great way to develop, over the long course of the book, a familiarity with the "characters" like one has with something like Game of Thrones. The technical descriptions of physics are exceptionally detailed, and I really recommend the book to other scientists and engineers. The reader was for the most part acceptable, but at times would make me cringe with inappropriateand poorly excecuted imitations of accents. At many times he would over-act in a way that was just distracting, and I would have preferred a straight, respectful, reading in those instances. He also should have done more research into how to pronounce some of the proper nouns (which I understand there are many of and spanning many languages, and normally I am not picky about, but some of them were said so often or are such iconic and well-known names that it really would have been better to get it closer to correct). Anyway. It was still well worth tolerating because the original material is just so exceptionally well written and the reading was still good for a majority of the time.
