Every available second I have is dedicated to enhancing my career and learning Spanish. I have zero seconds and zero time to listen or read anything in English. This book and this review costs me time I value exceedingly. They are worth it. The book is healing. The price is irrelevant here. The value is a Maxim for life. On my personal journey this book became pentacle for alignment to my birth chart. If all you need is what the synopsis offers, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

"Jason". God! How I've come to absolutely HATE that name, over-used and always some emotive, asexual, social retard. Up to this book, that condition made this Jason, the poster child! Never before have I hoped the main character would die horribly so that any one of the supporting characters could take their place! However, someone must have gotten to the author with enough of the same opinion because, "Jason" is more intelligent, developed, thoughtful and almost likeable in this latest book.

In a way, I'm so far "Finn". I see Jason has been nothing but a weak, exceedingly lucky child. Overrated, underdeveloped and definitely not worthy of being the centerpiece of a great story which carries his weaknesses. I'm getting off on the concept of Finn challenging Jason and I'm early into the story writing this review. For the first time, I hope Jason kicks Finn's a$s.

Listening to the dialog of the lawyer with Jason also demonstrates clearly that dumb Jason has finally learned something about the way of the worlds, and about the motives of living. Still based on the premise of blaming everyone else for their lack of personal responsibility, there is a new, keener awareness of the power of consequence and choice. Maybe little Jason is finally getting hair in the right places and understand what being a real man is. Whatever the condition, the author has maturated the main character into something interesting and worthy without the cringe.

I've rated all the other main story line books for Awaken Online. In those reviews, I clearly state how much respect I have for the story and the author's storytelling abilities. So far, 1/10th the way into Hellion, I'm digging the increased force of will, something which up to this book has been hypocritical. Jason puts all his points into Willpower and is the weakest willed dolt. Not any more. I am very hopeful that Alfred will become more known and play a larger role than "cat in a lap". The AI's potential hasn't been fully tapped yet and we're on book 8. Frank's new girth and length is a super welcome addition to this book. Riley, the obligatory, super b*tch, "Buffy" represents the necessary evil of the lie which is feminism. Of course she's as strong as a man! Of course she's smarter than all the men. Of course! I just write that off with the other fantasy.

The truth behind the fantasy is 5-stars

I struggled with Book 3, which nearly forced me to rate it "3-stars", until I realized the truth behind the fantasy. On the surface, from someone whom there is no life message, the editors failed in their job by allowing chapters 10-25 to remain. "Boring!", was my rating, until I saw the pure, absolute truth written in these chapters.
One naturally masculine male who embraces his true self is infinitely more powerful than a clan of deviants, hell-bent on expressing every color in the crayon box as the center of their life. One leader, a man, fully masculine, can destroy a band of pretenders and all those who foolishly lose their lives following them. Even the writing clearly and cleanly reveals the hollowness, fear and desperation from depending on the indecision, error, and double-minded complacency of child-brain men. The two witches said it best when discussing their fate with the Bennett pack. They were right. Death came to all the packs who relied on Portland. This is the truth behind the fantasy of HeartSong.
One masculine man, determined in his self-righteous cause, is the true Warlock, the unbeatable foe, of the willfully weak effeminates and fearful chaos children. There came a point for me in HeartSong when Elizabeth FINALLY had no choice but to take the reigns when I understood, I don't want the Bennett's to win. They don't deserve it. They've made a slaughter of all those who depended upon them. Their indecision has brought fear and then death to those who depended upon them. Nothing they can do from that point can EVER make right what they have made so wrong. Their pain is earned.
Not even the device, thrown in gratuitously, of using children as weapons can turn Ezra into a loser, because he's won. Compare how much he's lost with the vast lost of "The Pack" and you'll quickly see, he was right. Might makes right. Being a self-determined peerless masculine male is truly the most powerful being on earth. I thank this novel's existence. It was a godsend from all the BS in this country right now, telling me, a gay man, what I'm supposed to be, and it's all wrong. A leader, a true leader is a masculine, self-determined man. The fantasy is believing otherwise and thus, the truth inside the fantasy. Thank you.

Was it Very Good? Yes. Was it 'Great'? Yes and No. Did I LOVE IT? No. I mean, what? Are we talking about a hook up or a book? IF it was a hookup, we dated for about a week and it ended. Was it a week I still remember? Yes. Do I regret that it's over? No. So, like that. I hate all this "Great!", "Amazing!", "Life changing!". I mean, I read The Bible for the first time, and it was life changing. Listen to Sandman for ten hours? C'mon.
I give it a solid, wholehearted, YES! on recommended because of all the production value which went into the audio. Narrated by talent after talent after talent. It was like an audiobook Broadway. But, the story concept of The Sandman just isn't that fantastic. Will you think the story sucks? 1% chance. Will you regret downloading it? Will you return it? 1% chance. About the same that you'll find it the greatest story you've ever heard by the most amazing performance ever. I'm willing to bet, as a Scorpio, that if you aspire to be in the 94.4756833% who have listened to the production and were compelled enough to write a very positive review, you won't live to regret doing so yourself. Would you like to bet me? It will only cost you your eternal soul if you lose.
I'm sorry. Did you believe I was going to tell you something about the story? I wasn't. And, if you don't listen to it for yourself, you'll never know why the other 94% liked it so much, will you?

T J Klune, for me, has gone from "I hate women who write gay novels" to The torch song, The standard bearer, The best of all writers of gay male fantasy. I'd STILL like to know how that works but, it does. She's fckn awesome! I won't hesitate to say, I've purchased most of her titles. Two I've returned but, the others are ones which will stay with me forever, in my hand and in my heart. I'm one of those happy masculine gay men who enjoys being totally male. I love the binary. T J Klune has an unnatural affinity to write novels I love while avoiding the rigidness of binary as if it didn't exist, yet, without offending it's clear existence and fact of being.
Despite all this praise, I'm having a harder time getting into RavenSong because of a binary objection I have to a "male witch". There's no such thing. We have witches and warlocks. Sorceress and Sorcerer. They don't inter-chance. So, every time I hear the main character say, "I'm a witch", it's like watching a Lonnie Linebacker, hairy-legged horror say, "I'm a woman!". It disrupts the flow. It disrupts belief. It breaks the storyline.
Still, the storyline is dragging a bit at the start but, I can already recommend this title. For a record of what I don't love in the Klue collection: I sincerely HATED "the Lightning struck heart" and consider that writing to be entirely different from her norm. The problem with writing diversification is, it makes saying, "Oh, you'll love everything the author writes" untrue. I hope it works to make Klune's empire even stronger. We NEED her. She's become a savior of gay novels, and I'm super grateful.
Although this sequel is grounded closely to the first title, it's quickly find a place for itself. I like "Ox". Thomas was an obnoxious cnt but, he was a kid then. I'm willing to see how his character develops and whether there were interesting stories made on the road with this crew. The one clear fact, even early on into chapter 4 is, the writing is pure Klune. She's even carried over the "I said" and "she said" aspects which endeared me to Ox. Nice touch. Thoughtful. Great wink.

Marvel recently used this concept in Justice League. Going back through time to redo. This story is particularly well written and executed. I recommend you read the synopsis carefully, decide whether you enjoy this type of LitRPG and then, if you do, you will be entirely pleased with selecting this novel. I highly recommend this title to those who carefully select the synopsis.

The saddest part is, there is no part 3 yet...

As of this writing, 6/8/2021, there is no part III. I deeply regret the absence of a part 3 and beyond. The story is left. However, does that mean the story should never be heard? Is it better to have loved and lost than never loved at all? Ah, the human drama and our mundane questioning.
Reborn has the potential to become a top tier saga with epic potential going forward, or, it might be left to our imagination. Should we curse the seeds offered because the tree has died, or shall we plant the seeds?
The character writing is solid. The story is easy to follow yet, complex. There is interweaving but, it's not poorly-paced, erratic or irrelevant. I'm of the opinion that books 1 and 2 started life as one novel, and were split due to book marketing economics. The reason there is no part 3 and 4 is because there was only the one book, with a thought of "let's see".
I am hopeful L M Kerr will write the next chapters. I'm a customer, for sure. If you like the premise of the synopsis and the tone of narration, you will thorough enjoy this title.

Aleron King. You are forgiven for that horrible last title in The Chaos Seed. Obviously, you needed a break and were as bored with the whole storyline as 'Monsters' was painful to hear. Did I mention that 'Monsters' sincerely sucked and was a total rip-off? ANYWAY...
Here we are with God's Eye:Awakening. I'm sure you see words like "Masterpiece" all the time. While not a new gospel, it's damn good. It really, really is. The story is SO GOOD, it made Luke Daniels better! I think Luke Daniels is affected by the stories he reads as much as we common readers are. Let me be clear: God's Eye is a refresh upgrade for Aleron and Luke! They both shined in this latest effort and I sincerely appreciate listening to both doing their best work!
We avid listeners of more than 120 titles have favorites which stand out among all the titles we enjoyed. I, thoroughly enjoyed Dan Simmons "Carrion Comfort", the audiobook "The need to talk about Kevin" (the movie, a disaster) and "The Land" up to but excluding Monsters. Of all the 120+ audiobooks I've listened, God's Eye will be remembered, always. I highly recommend this experience for people who READ the synopsis carefully, and agree they enjoy the type of story. Don't blame Aleron or anyone else for sloppy pickings.
