Historia
The company of the Ring is torn asunder. Frodo and Sam continue their journey alone down the great River Anduin - alone, that is, save for the mysterious creeping figure that follows wherever they go. This continues the classic tale begun in The Fellowship of the Ring, which reaches its awesome climax in The Return of the King.

Less engaging than Clan
Revisado: 02-25-24
The pacing is somewhat plodding and the story not as inspired as the first book. I'm no prude, but the soft core porn felt out of place and overdone. Too much exposition and magical coincidence.

Historia
The extraordinary career of George Catlett Marshall - America’s most distinguished soldier - statesman since George Washington - whose selfless leadership and moral character influenced the course of two world wars and helped define the American century. Set against the backdrop of five major conflicts - two world wars, Palestine, Korea, and the Cold War - Marshall's education in military, diplomatic, and political power, replete with their nuances and ambiguities, runs parallel with America's emergence as a global superpower.

A True Hero of the Republic
Revisado: 09-03-23
A magnificent survey of the life of one of the most magnificent men to ever serve the United States of America, and one of the most important people of the 20th century. It's no fawning haigiography, and as no human is perfect, it explores his blind spots and missed opportunities.
But that word -- serve -- is particularly apt in the case of the General, for he truly served his country; not his own whims, desire, ego, or will to power. Power, he had and exercised in plenty. This is the important story of how he did so. He won the war. He secured the peace.
Particularly apt as the third decade of the 21st century grinds on, was his foresight. He ensured that the United States did not shrink from our responsibilities to follow the better angels of our nature, enabling a life of peace and plenty for millions around the globe. We forget his lessons and abandon his legacy at the peril of civilization.

Historia
As World War II came to an end, General George Marshall was renowned as the architect of Allied victory. Set to retire, he instead accepted what he thought was a final mission - this time not to win a war, but to stop one. Across the Pacific, conflict between Chinese Nationalists and Communists threatened to suck in the United States and escalate into revolution. His assignment was to broker a peace, build a Chinese democracy, and prevent a Communist takeover, all while staving off World War III.

Historia
Between 1937 and 1945, approximately 55 million people perished in the series of interrelated conflicts known as the Second World War. No continent was left untouched, no ocean unaffected. The war led to the eclipse of Europe and the emergence of the United States and the Soviet Union as global superpowers; ushered in the atomic age; produced, in the Holocaust, the most horrific crime ever committed in the history of Western civilization, and led to the end of Europe's colonial empires around the world.
