Surprisingly better than I thought
Revisado: 07-13-23
I was definitely pleasantly surprised by the writing and loved the dual voice actors, the female voice actor felt and sounded more stiff and her cadence was very slow and paused at every sentence, but the males voice acting was literally perfect. Honestly thought the narration helped the story so so much, just made it feel like the story was brought to life. The world building is what brought it all together I thought the humor was well placed throughout the book, and honestly am shocked I enjoyed this

Historia
When Pestilence comes for Sara Burn’s town, one thing is certain: everyone she knows and loves is marked for death. Unless, of course, the angelic-looking horseman is stopped, which is exactly what Sara has in mind when she shoots the unholy beast off his steed. Too bad no one told her Pestilence can’t be killed. Now the horseman, very much alive and very pissed off, has taken her prisoner, and he’s eager to make her suffer. Only, the longer she’s with him, the more uncertain she is about his true feelings towards her, and hers towards him. And now, well, Sara might still be able to save the world, but in order to do so, she'll have to sacrifice her heart in the process.

Glad I ignored the reviews
Revisado: 02-10-23
I read through all of the reviews and was super hesitant on reading, and I will admit the beginning is a bit slow just because there were some romantic parts or “stolen moments” that felt undeserved or insensitive, like when people are dying of the plague and Sarah is thinking about the horseman’s physique or thinking about bedding him in the same house people passed away in… But the story REALLY rounds itself out and I really love the authors style of writing, lots of world building and characterizing. It’s also a slow burn romance that has you wanting more by the end. Overall I’d give an 8.5/10 rating and the narrator did an awesome job! Glad I went into this new series, and ignored the reviews to cultivate my own opinions.

Historia
Callypso Lillis is a siren with a very big problem, one that stretches up her arm and far into her past. For the last seven years she’s been collecting a bracelet of black beads up her wrist, magical IOUs for favors she’s received. Only death or repayment will fulfill the obligations. Only then will the beads disappear. Everyone knows that if you need a favor, you go to the Bargainer. He’s a man who can get you anything you want … at a price. And everyone knows that sooner or later he always collects. But for one client, he’s never asked for repayment. Not until now.

Reminded me of ACOTAR, well told!
Revisado: 02-02-23
Loved the story, loved the pacing and the reader did awesome! Really brought me back to ACOTAR as it shares similar story telling elements, but it was a new story and I can’t wait to read the second.
