Kaely Quinn's talents as an FBI behavior analyst are impossible to ignore, no matter how unorthodox her methods. But when a reporter outs her as the daughter of an infamous serial killer, she's demoted to field agent and transferred to St. Louis. When the same reporter who ruined her career claims to have received an anonymous poem predicting a string of murders, ending with Kaely's, the reporter's ulterior motives bring his claim into question. But when a body is found that fits the poem's predictions, the threat is undeniable.

Belongs in the Christian section
Revisado: 02-06-19
Started out interesting then went downhill fast. Full of clichés and sermons. Writer should stick to Christian romances.

Historia
A serial killer is burning people alive in the Lake District's prehistoric stone circles. He leaves no clues, and the police are helpless. When his name is found carved into the charred remains of the third victim, disgraced detective Washington Poe is brought back from suspension and into an investigation he wants no part of. He is reluctantly partnered with brilliant but socially awkward civilian analyst Tilly Bradshaw, and the mismatched pair uncover a trail that only he is meant to see. The elusive killer has a plan, and for some reason Poe is part of it.

Can't Wait for the Next Installment!
Revisado: 08-13-18
Looking for new authors to try out and stumbled on this story. Loved it! Great characters, intriguing story, good narration. I immediately looked for another by the same author but this seems to be his/her first available. Looking forward to the next installment in the series.

Terrible! Every cliche and poor performance
Revisado: 04-21-17
What would have made Dead Like Me better?
Just a poorly written and poorly performed book. The performance could have improve the weakness in the writing but...
Would you ever listen to anything by Kelly Miller again?
No
What didn’t you like about Angel Clark’s performance?
Chipmunk voices for female characters. Attempts at special effects - sounded like she was talking into a paper cup when characters were on the phone.
What character would you cut from Dead Like Me?
The pedophile.
Any additional comments?
This is just a poorly conceived and written story that is poorly performed. I do not recommend it.

Historia
Former LAPD lieutenant Peter Decker is relishing the quiet and slow pace of his new job with the Greenbury police department. The work is low stress and engaging, and it's been almost a year since the last murder in this sleepy upstate New York town. Then the body of a nude man is found deep within the woods, shattering Decker's peace. The death appears to be a suicide - a single shot to the head, the gun by his side. But until the coroner's ruling, the scene must be treated as a suspicious crime.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment. I had the sense that the author starting writing before she had a story in mind then just kept it up until something came to her.

Historia
On opening day of the new baseball season a small model-kit airplane flies down from the stands and buzzes the mound, where a decorated veteran pilot is about to throw out the first ball. The toy plane is the exact replica of the one flown by the war hero. Everyone laughs, thinking it's a prank or a publicity stunt. Until it explodes, killing dozens. Seconds later a swarm of killer drones descend upon the picnicked crowd, each one carrying a powerful bomb. All across the country artificial intelligence drive systems in cars, commuter trains and even fighter planes go out of control.

Love this group of characters (and the narrator)!
Revisado: 04-28-15
Which scene was your favorite?
It takes some skill to develop a character who would burn a man to death (albeit, a bad guy) and still be the guy you want to hang out with at a baby christening. The author and narrator are a perfect team in creating the Joe Ledger character.

Didn't care for it...
Revisado: 01-08-15
What would have made Killing Hope better?
Too many story lines in play, could have used some restraint
What was most disappointing about Keith Houghton’s story?
The ending came out of nowhere and didn't make a lot of sense
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
I did enjoy the performance. David Doersch creates the various characters very vividly
Any additional comments?
This is the first in a new series - I don't think I will be following it

Historia
The Profiler's Daughter is a psychologically haunting thriller that combines murder mystery, love triangle, and family intrigue in one satisfying page burner. Sky Stone was born into the wealth and privilege of Boston's oldest Brahmin family but chooses instead to follow in the footsteps of her deceased father, legendary FBI profiler Monk Stone. In the chilly morning hours before the Boston Marathon, when a beautiful university student is found strangled and mutilated, her body left at the base of Heartbreak Hill, Sky returns from self-imposed exile to investigate.

One of the worst...
Revisado: 04-27-14
Would you ever listen to anything by P. M. Steffen again?
No.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Gabrielle de Cuir?
I don't know that a different narrator could have helped the story but Ms. de Cuir read like she was either half asleep (slurring words, dragging out sentences) or like a very bad actor trying to recreate the variety of ethnic stereotype characters.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Profiler's Daughter?
I'm surprised this book got published at all - it doesn't have an original thought in it.
Any additional comments?
This story is a mismash of every cliché and stereotype possible in this genre. About one-quarter of the way through I was going to give up on it but then started listening to it as a comedy - trying to guess which ethnic stereotype would come in next, which cliché and unbelievable dialog would come next.
