This is great story to listen to with your family. I listened with a 9 year old and a 12 year old who enjoy sci-fi and fantasy stories, though Time for Trouble is clearly written with younger kids in mind as well. Time for Trouble is a fun story involving a young genius inventor, her younger brother, some time travel, and antics ensue with some twists along the way. It is a short listen, at about an hour, perfect for a family car ride. Bonniejean provides an excellent performance and treats the story with respect, keeping the story approachable to all ages.

This is the second Thelma Bee book by Erin Petti and I am hoping there will be a third.

I have listened to both Thelma Bee books with my 9 year old daughter and we enjoyed both of them. I highly recommend listening to them in order for this book to make the most sense but it is possible I enjoyed this book even more than the first. It has more twists and expands the lore surrounding Thelma’s family. The characters from the first book are developed even further with new interesting characters introduced.

As a family story I would recommend it for ages 8+. There is a lot going on that may be difficult for some younger kids to follow but there is nothing inappropriate and it kept me interested as an adult listener.

Bonniejean Boettcher is the narrator of both Thelma Bee books and it is great to hear the consistent but unique voices for each character carried through.

I listened to "The Peculiar Haunting of Thelma Bee" through a series of car rides with my 9 year old daughter. We both enjoyed the story and the performance. My daughter was so engaged that she was immediately asking about a sequel and asked to start "Thelma Bee in Toil and Treble" as soon as possible.

The story contains recognizable elements of a supernatural story but I would not call it a typical haunted house or ghost story and there are some twists that I do not wish to give away. My daughter found the story to be spooky at times but not too scary and she did not want it turned off even when getting nervous as we were driving at night. The main character takes a scientific approach which I appreciated and I think it helped keep the story grounded.

The performance by Bonniejean Boettcher was engaging with distinct voices for each character. My daughter and I have listened to several audio books in the car together but she was particularly complimentary of the voices Bonniejean used for the characters and how she was able to balance the spookier moments without crossing into too scary. We were happy to learn that "Thelma Bee in Toil and Treble" is also performed by Bonniejean.

Overall, I recommend this audiobook for families looking for a fun story that everyone, at least ages 8+, can enjoy in the car.
