Historia
In 1950s Quebec, French and English tolerate each other with precarious civility - much like Maggie Hughes' parents. Maggie's English-speaking father has ambitions for his daughter that don't include marriage to the poor French boy on the next farm over. But Maggie's heart is captured by Gabriel Phénix. When she becomes pregnant at 15, her parents force her to give baby Elodie up for adoption and get her life "back on track".

Historia
Why we think it’s a great listen: There’s no gentle way to put this – Frank McCourt’s performance of Angela’s Ashes is just better than the Pulitzer Prize-winning book. Frank McCourt shares his sometimes heartwarming, sometimes heartbreaking story of growing up poor, Irish, and Catholic in the Pulitzer Prize-winning memoir Angela's Ashes.

A wonderful book
Revisado: 10-31-21
Angela’s Ashes audio book is one I listen to over and over again. Having the author narrate this book is an added bonus. His calming voice and Irish accent makes me feel as though he is telling his story of growing up in Ireland just for me. The author’s humor and vivid detail make this a must read book! And if you love this book as much as I do, you will be thrilled to continue his story with two more books “Tis” and “Teacher Man”!

This book held my attention. The story line was good. It just wasn't a book I wanted to sit and listen to for hours. I would not read this book again, but I would read another book by this author. She has a talent for writing!

Historia
Armani Curtis can think about only one thing: her tenth birthday. All her friends are coming to her party, her mama is making a big cake, and she has a good feeling about a certain wrapped box. Turning ten is a big deal to Armani. It means she's older, wiser, more responsible. But when Hurricane Katrina hits the Lower Nines of New Orleans, Armani realizes that being ten means being brave, watching loved ones die, and mustering all her strength to help her family weather the storm.

I loved this audio book. I have always loved the movie The Little Princess staring Shirley Temple, but now I feel I truly know little Sarah's story. This audio version was so wonderful I immediately listened to it a second time. It is a story that I definitely recommend to all. Well done!!
