Historia
In Broken Harbour, a ghost estate outside Dublin - half-built, half-inhabited, half-abandoned - two children and their father are dead. The mother is on her way to intensive care. Scorcher Kennedy is given the case because he is the Murder squad's star detective. At first he and his rookie partner, Richie, think this is a simple one: Pat Spain was a casualty of the recession, so he killed his children, tried to kill his wife Jenny, and finished off with himself.

Over 20 hours - perfect for the pandemic!
Revisado: 05-15-21
This is an excellent book, I wouldn’t give it anything less than five stars, but if you’re looking for a book to fall asleep too, this might not be the perfect fit. The voice work is excellent, just a little too invigorating to ensure a solid night of sleep. I ended up looking at the ceiling many nights, waking up to stressed out voices...combined with Tana French’s moody scenes, this book guaranteed sleepy morning.

So intriguing!
Revisado: 03-29-21
This review was going to be off the charts. The first 4/5ths of this book knocked my socks off. Catherine Steedman is not only a talented author, she’s a formidable narrator. This may be a bit of a spoiler so consider this as my warning - the last ~1 hour was disappointing. It was so gory - the story is such a physiological thriller, I don’t see the need for there to be so much pain, it was hard to listen to. Felt gratuitous. But I feel that way for a lot of these types of books.

A fun diversion
Revisado: 12-27-20
KC Kahler pumps more life into the well loved story of Pride and Prejudice. Altering the story only for the betterment of the characters, this piece of fan fiction was the escape I was craving. It would be a great movie!

easy peasy
Revisado: 10-25-16
void from all the graphic violence that newer detective novels have, this novel delved into human behaviour in a wry and engaging way.
