Historia
The immediate message: See iron, lift iron. The ultimate message: Train hard, eat right, and be happy. Don't you just love simple? It's one of the main reasons I chose the sport. No pitcher, no quarterback, no foul ball, and no meddlesome referee. Just you and the iron and the rhythmic sounds of action, the grunts and groans and clanks and thuds.

Book won't tell you much about DD.

Chapter 56
"Never know who's reading my pointless nonsense. They're extraordinarily satisfying, too. Swell time-killers and give one the cool appearance that he knows what he's doing."
This explains most of my listening experience with the blond boomer. I might listen to Chapter 65 again for the inspiration and Chapter 72 for the emotions.
I didn't expect most of this to be Dave Draper's musings. I thought it's going to be a collection of anecdotes, but it's all essays. Entertaining, but give me something biographical instead. I also want stories about the golden era of bodybuilding.
I enjoyed listening to Steven Oswalt's handsome and calming voice.

Historia
Known to bodybuilders young and old as The Golden Eagle, the man Arnold Schwarzenegger personally passed the "bodybuilding torch" to, and commonly acknowledged as the most intense bodybuilder who ever trained - a living legend who forged the best legs to ever adorn a bodybuilding stage -Tom never wanted a "normal" life. The dedication and devotion to his calling started when he was barely 10 years old, and propelled him on a trajectory that led to bodybuilding's stratosphere, and beyond - to the top of the world of the social and business elite.

I wanted to give the book a higher rating, but...
Revisado: 09-14-23
Things I didn't like about the book:
1. He does not talk about the negative aspects of his life enough. He told us he has two ex-wives, but he said practically nothing about his relationships with them. I get that he does not like dwelling on bad things, but these are the things I want to know. He said he wants to work with young people, so I think he should open up more about the negative stuff, because that's what teaches us the most lessons.
2. He brown-nosed Arnold. I don't think he even likes Arnold, but he could not say anything negative about him, because he kind of owes him. After the 1980 Mr. Olympia, everybody wanted to boycott Arnold's win, but Tom came to Arnold and told him he deserved the win. Arnold's wife later told Tom that Arnold needed to hear that at the time. After this, Tom's career skyrocketed. He got a lot more money and fame. Arnold even described him as his successor, and then one day he sent Tom an edited picture of himself carrying Tom, which is symbolic.
3. I don't mind that he's not meticulous with the dates, but he could have at least told the story chronologically. I think he was holding his notes while telling his story, but he did not finalize what he was going to say, before recording, so he had to make decisions about what he was and wasn't going to tell us on the spot. I get that "Raw & Uncut" is literally the title, but he could still have organized his thoughts better.
4. He claimed that butter is healthier than olive oil, without enough explanation. He just said that butter is why girls in Jamaica have good skin.
