Historia
Wendy Cadge and Shelly Rambo demonstrate the urgent need, highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic, to position the long history and practice of chaplaincy within the rapidly changing landscape of American religion and spirituality. This book provides a much-needed road map for training and renewing chaplains across a professional continuum that spans major sectors of American society, including hospitals, prisons, universities, the military, and nursing homes.

More of a liberal playbook
Revisado: 08-14-24
This book is marketed as a guide for chaplaincy. But that seems like a secondary objective, only after the reader acknowledges and agrees with leftist ideals.
As an example, words like spirituality, empathy, or patient care, appear a fraction of of the time when compared to words like patriarchy, systemic (used in the context of racism, sexism, or oppression), or critical race theory. This really isn’t so much a helpful guide for chaplains as it is guilting of conservatives using extreme examples.

Shame it’s taken this long
Revisado: 02-29-24
If only stories like this were more publicized and talked about. Honest, uncomfortable stories like this help inoculate people against dangerous naivety. I wish 100%, that I had read this before my marriage or divorce.

Historia
Sleep is one of the most important but least understood aspects of our life, wellness, and longevity. Until very recently, science had no answer to the question of why we sleep, or what good it served, or why we suffer such devastating health consequences when we don't sleep. Compared to the other basic drives in life - eating, drinking, and reproducing - the purpose of sleep remained elusive.

I’ll never look at sleep the same way again
Revisado: 01-11-23
I learned so much about sleep and it’s affects. I’m no longer asking my teenage kids to wake up early on weekends and am prioritizing my own sleep so much more.

So much good info
Revisado: 11-06-22
I will have to digest this again a few times because of the great information.
It did achieve the goal I wanted it to. I started writing and I now have a better idea of where I want it to go.

Historia
What is masculinity? Ask ten men and you'll get ten vague, conflicting answers. Unlike any book of its kind, The Way of Men offers a simple, straightforward answer - without getting bogged down in religion, morality, or politics. It's a guide for understanding who men have been and the challenges men face today. The Way of Men captures the silent, stifling rage of men everywhere who find themselves at odds with the overregulated, overcivilized, politically correct modern world.

I will never give another book 5 stars again
Revisado: 05-29-21
As a man, former Marine, a father and a son, this book resonated with me on so many levels. Much of what Jack Donovan talks about is backed up by clinical psychologist like Jordan Peterson. Specifically the importance of hierarchy and the myth that masculinity is toxic. Recommend this to any man.

Historia
Founder of the largest indigenous Christian church in American history, Joseph Smith published the 584-page Book of Mormon when he was 23 and went on to organize a church, found cities, and attract thousands of followers before his violent death at age 38. Richard Bushman, an esteemed cultural historian and a practicing Mormon, moves beyond the popular stereotype of Smith as a colorful fraud to explore his personality, his relationships with others, and how he received revelations.
