Life of Pi Audiolibro Por Yann Martel arte de portada

A deep story

This story was fascinating. It pulled me right in. I found it to be very emotionally heavy because it deals a lot with death and despiration and the will to survive. It sonds a little like a childrens book, a boy stuck on a life raft with an orangatan, a zebra with a broken leg, a hyena, and a tiger named John Parker. In reality, it is the story of the life and death struggle that happens on the lifeboat and how the boy Pi survives to tell his tale. The ending is very thought provoking. It is not an easy read, but I would highly reccomend it.

The Time Traveler's Wife Audiolibro Por Audrey Niffenegger arte de portada

This one hit me hard

This book is really a romance set to a time-traveling background. It is about a man and his wife and the story of how each of them meets the other for the first time and live their lives with each other. The twist comes from the fact that the man has a condition that makes him randomly jump to different points in time, so his wife first meets him as a young girl when he appears in the field by her house, while he first meets her when he is working in a library and she runs into him for the first time. The story follows their lives and all the complications that come from his condition. I found myself deeply touched by this story. I really cared for these two people as I read about their lives. One of the few books that made me cry. I would highly, highly recomend it to anyone who appreciates a touching story.

An amazing, amazing book. I would say one of the best sci-fi books ever. A fascinating story that pulls you in and holds you tight. Also an interesting discussion of manipulating people and of gaining power. I would highly recomend this book to anyone who even mildly enjoys sci-fi, and maybe even those who do not. I would also recomend the books that come after this, Speaker for the Dead, Xenocide, and Children of the Mind. These go in a different direction than Ender's Game, and many people do not enjoy them as much, but I found them to be just as interesting, if for diferent reasons.

I was disapointed in this one

This audiobook is definitely geared to younger readers. It starts out with a fascinating premise and then turns it into a dry story focusing more on wandering around in the hills than any real occurance with the power to bring caracters from books to life. The villain in the book is billed as a horrible, horrible person that does terrible things, but in actual practice feels like he has been muzzled (probably since this is geared towards younger readers). He just doesn't act like a horrible, horrible villain that would inspire the terror that the other characters seem to have of him. Overall, I would say that this book was dry, boring, and generic.

Quite enjoyable, but...

This book was very interesting in the concept for the story. The only problem with it was that it is actually the middle book in a trilogy (which is not made clear anywhere) so the story seems to start in the middle of something, and doesn't come to a solid conclusion since the story continues beyond this book. Plus there are references to things that happened in the first book all through this one, and it made me wonder what had happened in the first book that I had missed. I would recomend getting ahold of the first book before listening to this one.

I found myself zoning out while listening to this audiobook. The story follows the fight over this house over generations between humans and the "coglore" which are shape changers. As the book goes on, the house takes on bigger and bigger dimensions and becomes more and more haunted. It is really more like a series of short stories that all take place in similar settings. The author can drag out some of the scenarios in the book to rediculous lengths. I found myself wishing that he would just get on with it instead of describing fight after fight after fight. It did help to pass the time on a long road trip, but I found myself watching out the windows as much as listening.
