Historia
Amy Nicols (Lizzy Caplan) was an FBI agent with a dogged need to protect everyone—until that instinct caused her to mishandle a crisis, lose innocent lives, and lose her job. Now a civilian working in private security, that mistake still haunts her. One morning on the commuter train, she overhears a young couple plotting a murder. Ignoring warnings from her family and friends, Amy’s instinct to protect and serve compels her to investigate. But the further she goes, the more she finds her own life in danger.

I usually like Lizzie Caplan
Revisado: 03-24-25
Seems a bit over the top with the acting. I get it, it’s a dramatic audiobook. But I find it difficult she made it in the FBI with those work ethics and decision making abilities. Plus her husband seems an unlikely person she would marry. I just did not find the story believable. Definitely entertaining. Glad it was short.

Historia
Success has come quickly to Holmes, Marple & Poe Investigations. The New York City agency led by three detectives—Brendan Holmes, “the brain,” Margaret Marple, “the eyes,” and Auguste Poe, the “muscle”—with famous names and mysterious pasts is one major case away from cementing its professional reputation. But as a series of child abductions tests the PIs’ legendary skills, the cerebral Holmes’s absence leaves a gaping hole in the agency roster. Only by closing ranks and solving the mystery within can they recover all that’s been lost.

Historia
After the killing of a prominent mob lawyer, NYPD homicide detectives Jacob Jackson and Caitlin Grimes start receive chilling, written “rules” for how to commit the perfect murder. "Rule number one for the perfect murder: Evidence is your enemy. Leave none behind." Jackson (Reid Scott) and Grimes (Cobie Smulders) race to find the killer, setting them on a collision course with the city’s crime underbelly, and a perpetrator who seems happy to toy with them. “Rule number two. No crimes of passion. The perfect murder is always business, never pleasure.”

Historia
My fiancé brought me tea and scrambled eggs in bed that morning, and we snuggled together, talking about buying our rings, and about our perfect wedding next year. Then we headed into town. He held my hand and gazed at the ring I liked best, a smile spreading slowly over his face. Then a glass of bubbly to celebrate. I felt flushed, excited and ready for the rest of my life with the man I loved. We race to get on the train home. It screams to a halt and I run towards its open doors. Made it. I think he’s right behind me — but when I turn around, he’s gone.

Historia
Fresh off the success of her groundbreaking first play, A Raisin in the Sun, Lorraine Hansberry's The Sign in Sidney Brustein's Window tells the tragicomic story of a young bohemian couple in New York's Greenwich Village, struggling to do what's right in a world that rewards everything that's wrong. Sidney is a dreamer who wants his own Walden Pond; Iris is a budding actress whose own backstory is a performance. They're caught in a moment where, "the world is about to crack right down the middle," as the play tackles racism, sexism, antisemitism, homophobia, liberal complacency, and more.

I am so confused
Revisado: 12-18-24
I’m not sure what j just listened to. It was confusing. There were so many personalities. Oscar Isaac’s character seemed to have ADHD and was cruel to his wife. The younger sisters voice Gloria could not be more grating and irritating. I was hoping it would be as good as Beat Man’a ghost writer but it did not meet any expectations. Sorry. I’m sure it’s better on a stage (maybe?) seems to be a fever dream that ended abruptly.

Not sure what I just listened to
Revisado: 10-08-24
Couldn’t get over Ms Ritter’s speech impediment, nasal voice and bland voice acting. Maybe she’s better on tv. Never watched Jessica Jones. The sound effects were cool and everyone else had soothing voices. She doesn’t seem to be a very good cop. They should have arrested her for being so shady.

Historia
Librarian Sylvia Ashe knows nothing about her past, having grown up without a father and a mother who refused to discuss him. When she stumbles upon a diary that suggests she's descended from magicians, she's skeptical. After all, magicians are special, and she's just an ordinary woman who loves books. She seeks answers from a member of the most prominent family of magicians, but she quickly learns that finding the truth won't be easy, especially when he turns out to be as artless as her, and more compelling and dangerous than books.

Where was the magic?
Revisado: 10-07-24
The main heroine annoyed me. The story was interesting but did not reveal any magic. It felt more like a boring diary of a useless mousy woman. I’m sorry but I cannot understand why Gabe would be interesting in this simpering Sylvia. Not sure I will read the next book.

Suspenseful
Revisado: 05-13-24
The story is interesting. But the synopsis gives away the secret twist of the story. Not cool. The narrator Quinn is hard to listen to as she repeats and corrects herself and goes back and rereads lines. No one bothered to edit this audiobook it seems. She also mispronounces and invents words = yearses?? (What is Yearses?) It’s supposed to be 3 YEARS. I’m sorry for the harsh review. I listen to a lot of books and this one seems recorded in someone’s basement or home made studio.
