Historia
For Iris, each visit to her mother in St Mabon’s Cove, Cornwall has been the same—a serene escape from the city. But today, as she breaths in the salt air on the doorstep of her beloved childhood home, a heavy weight of anticipation settles over her. Iris knows she’s adopted, but any questions about where she came from have always been shut down by her parents, who can’t bear to revisit the past. Now, Iris can’t stop thinking about what she’s read on the official paperwork: BABY GIRL, FRANCE, 1939 – the year war was declared with Nazi Germany.

Historia
When 16-year-old Hannah Sheraton is arrested for the murder of her stepgrandfather, the chief justice of the California Supreme court, her distraught mother turns to her old college roommate, Josie Baylor-Bates, for help. Josie, once a hot-shot criminal defense attorney, left the fast track behind for a small practice in Hermosa Beach, California. But Hannah Sheraton intrigues her and, when the girl is charged as an adult, Josie cannot turn her back. But the deeper she digs the more Josie realizes that politics, the law, and family relationships create a combustible situation.

Great story, bad narration!
Revisado: 04-21-25
This is great storytelling!
A gripping story that had me on the edge all the time, and I didn't want to put it down.
Unexpected twist at the end.
Great characters.
BUT
The narration is bad. Sounds like an overdramatic teenager reading the story.
I would love to listen to the rest of the series but won't if it is the same narrator.

Historia
Blue Echohawk doesn't know who she is. She doesn't know her real name or when she was born. Abandoned at two and raised by a drifter, she didn't attend school until she was ten years old. At nineteen, when most kids her age are attending college or moving on with life, she is just a senior in high school. With no mother, no father, no faith, and no future, Blue Echohawk is a difficult student, to say the least.

Good story, narration not so much.

The story is very, very slow but I did enjoy the storyline.
Smalltown love story with a couple of bumps in the road.
The narration spoiled it though. Little girl whiney voice.

DS George Cross has always wondered why his mother left him when he was a child. Now she is back in his life, he suddenly has answers.
