Weird, drags
Revisado: 07-05-20
I liked the first Greg Iles book and this one sounded intriguing but this one is so boring, with such a ridiculous premise, I ended up skipping about 3 hours of it. There are too many antagonists, and they’re not subtle or complex. They’re just evil. Wasted credit

Slow
Revisado: 06-25-20
I thought the ‘big surprise’ was obvious when there were still ten hours left. It’s not a bad story and has sweet parts but it dragged out way too long. Also, the whole story is someone trying to solve a mystery that could have been solved in 5 minutes by simply asking the person involved. Who would wait 50 years?!

The one Binchy that’s disappointed me
Revisado: 01-29-20
One thing I love about Maeve Binchy is the way she weaves several stories together. In this one, though, there are so many characters that each gets only a snapshot. It took me months to finally finish slogging through

Historia
With the insight, humor, and compassion we have come to expect from her, Maeve Binchy tells a story of family, friends, patients, and staff who are part of a heart clinic in a community caught between the old and the new Ireland. Dr. Clara Casey has been offered the thankless job of establishing the underfunded clinic and agrees to take it on for a year. She has plenty on her plate already - two difficult adult daughters and the unwanted attentions of her ex-husband - but she assembles a wonderfully diverse staff devoted to helping their demanding, often difficult patients.

Narrator driving me crazy
Revisado: 05-16-19
One of the main characters has a very annoying accent and little girl voice. Two more sound like alien robots. Very distracting

Dragged
Revisado: 04-05-19
I’ve faithfully listened to all the Longmire books, but this was drawn out and maddening. Walt will do anything, ANYTHING, to rescue his daughter......except arrest or kill men guaranteed to thwart the rescue. Though I usually appreciate his gentleness, I was longing for him to be less of a sap and more Jack Reacher. . As it mostly takes place in Mexico, we lose the charm of Wyoming as well as, mostly. all the usual supporting characters

Boring, very outdated
Revisado: 03-03-18
I don’t consider myself to be very PC, but the language is offensive, with very frequent cursing and racial slurs. I didn’t care for the pompous sound of the narrator, and I was ready to scream if I heard another “he said.” Please, can’t a professional writer buy a thesaurus? As for the story, there’s very little plot. I expected a detective story, but there was no mystery and very little police procedure. No suspense
