I have listened to all of the historical novels!
Revisado: 06-10-19
I have listened to all of the St. Mary adventure’s, and I cannot wait for the next installment! I feel like I have left a group of friends behind. This is always a sign of excellent writing for me. Jodi Taylor has created a world full of my favorite kind of people exploring my favorite topic, history! And they are doing it in ”contemporary time.” Don't say ”those words!” ;) I listened to the audible production of the first book and thoroughly enjoyed it. I found the series and loved the narrator for the rest of the audiobooks. This series has it all a bit of humor, traveling through the timeline, adventure, mystery, history, romance that is fun and never too mushy, ups and downs and enough tea to make you want to drink it! 😂While I am anxiously waiting for a new installment, I am going to check out the author’s other books.

I wasn’t interested in “romance” stories for the past 20 years or so, until I chanced upon this Author! She brought it back for me with her “Indebted” series, in spades!
I purchased this audiobook due to “Kill” being mentioned in the “indebted” series, just had to find out his story, and what a story! I’m already into the sequel!

Great Saga & Supernatural Tale/Southern Gothic
Revisado: 02-28-18
A great buy for your credit! Almost 30 hours of supernatural/southern-gothic/at times gruesome/historical family saga. Some parts definitely had the hairs standing up the back of my neck! I normally review books on Goodreads, however, since I left a negative review (Friend Request), I'll make an effort to leave some positive ones.
Elinor Dammert arrives on Easter 1919 in Perdido, Alabama during the Great Flood. She is found by Oscar Caskey & his friend/companion "Bray", on the top floor of the Osceola Hotel. She informs them, she has been stranded there for 4 days, and one of her suitcases has been lost. She says she intended to come to Perdido to teach, but all of her papers have been lost in the flood.
This is the beginning of a saga that will span 50 years. Through magic, love, marriages, murder, birth, death, grief, healing, spirits & transformation of the human spirit.
Through the only "entertainment" to be had being the adults having coffee & chatting, or the women sitting on their porches, drinking tea & working embroidery. From listening to radio programs & playing cards & dominoes to finally getting TV sets and watching the daytime TV soap opera's while shelling beans for supper.
This was a credit well spent, and a story well told. There are some gruesome scenes, however, overall this is a story about family.

Don't waste your credit or $ + Spoiler Alert!
Revisado: 02-28-18
Okay, I usually write reviews under my Goodreads account for all books, but I felt compelled to share about this book.
Okay, where do I begin. Oh yes...major spoiler alerts going down here- so reader you have been warned! Actually, I've warned you twice now. The first was to not purchase this book. You're welcome.
Okay, Louise is an educated, single Mom (age 45), who runs her own business successfully, and manages her work, personal, and family life really well. Now get ready to throw all of that out of the window and watch her act like the weak willed & whiny immature prat she was in 1989, for the rest of the book.
This book alternates between 1989 & 2016, and by the time I finished, I was quite frankly ready to strangle Louise myself. Oh my?! Did I just write that? I'm just blushing. No I'm not.
Anyway, Louise receives a friend request from a "friend" that she happens to know is dead ...on Facebook. But...haha! Tra la la... it was such a traumatic event, let's just open this, nothing bad can happen ...right?
Of course immediately bad things start to happen and Louise makes every single bad decision at every single step of the story. Not only that, when she could actually make some smart mature proactive decisions, she literally EVERY SINGLE TIME, does the worst possible thing one could do. Making everything worse for herself and those around her, including her 4 year old son Henry.
She attends her 25th reunion (after getting countless threats, being followed, sent a strange package), then decides to get a room , because she needs to be able to drink of course! (Face palm), then ...THEN...shares it with a completely strange man (well her friend who has JUST NOW DISAPPEARED) kind of knows him...so that's just fine😳.
Even after her child is kidnapped, she just blindly follows along. NOPE! Not today! But follow along she does! And just when you think all is well...NOPE! Surprise, surprise, surprise...the sociopathic killer (starting back in 1989, and working all the way up to 2016!) is her beloved ex- husband Sam! Who beat her and was also verbally (and just abusive & manipulative in every way possible), however - pathetically- for their marriage to end- HE had to leave HER! 🤣Well, of course he actually tells her to be quiet, brave, and accept her fate. And it seems like she's going to! She tucks Henry in, gets some wine for them both, then politely sets about letting him strangle her. I'm serious here people. But of course at the very last minute sh decides she wants to live, so deploying the old "I'm going to hook my leg under this chair and knock it over to wake up my 4 yr old kid trick"!(which by the way - would never have woken any of my 3 children up- between the ages of 25-15), it somehow miraculously works. Henry says "Mommy", Sam stops strangling her long enough for Louise to run to Sam's bedroom and push herself up against the door - which somehow holds Henry at bay. Then (and I swear this is true), she somehow talks nicely to him and he goes away. Thus, proving my theory that British sociopaths are better mannered than US Sociopaths - obviously! Maybe it's the tea? I'm being horrible, but if you do buy the book ...you'll see what I'm talking about. At any rate, of course Sam drives out to the Lake Road where he committed his first murder, old times sake? The police find his car crashed into a tree, and of course jump to the conclusion ...he drowned ? And to tie it up in a neat little bow, Louise forgives herself for spiking her "friends" drink with Ecstasy; causing her to become disoriented, wander off into the woods, where Scott found and raped her. Of course when she took off yelling "Rapist!" And trying to tell everyone - Sam JUST HAD to kill her! But what Sophia & Louise did "was just teen girl pranks...right? NO! Nope! Not ok!

Historia
Once every year, Scoutmaster Tim Riggs leads a troop of boys into the Canadian wilderness for a weekend camping trip - a tradition as comforting and reliable as a good ghost story around a roaring bonfre. The boys are a tight-knit crew. There’s Kent, one of the most popular kids in school; Ephraim and Max, also well-liked and easygoing; then there’s Newt the nerd and Shelley the odd duck. For the most part, they all get along and are happy to be there - which makes Scoutmaster Tim’s job a little easier.

Historia
Tucked away in northeastern Vermont, picturesque Askergan County is the perfect place for a winter vacation - for the lucky few who know about it. Askergan is so peaceful, crime so nonexistent, that they don't even have a full-time police force, just a Sheriff and two deputies who spend most of their time dishing out parking tickets and breaking up the occasional bar fight. But that was before the storm.

I have a new favorite Author!
Revisado: 03-22-17
I devoured "Skin". Pun intended. I live in a small Vermont border town so I can relate to the setting, tone, and terror that is enhanced by the weather conditions. I don't like to give away too much so I will only say that if you enjoy a good plot, some chills, some gore thrown in, and enough characters with flaws to make them seem believable. Then you are in for a treat!

A+++++ Horror
Revisado: 09-27-16
This is classic horror genre at it's best. Fear isn't in the final delivery. At least not for me. It's in the dread and build up of the fear you know is coming. If you read/listen to the horror genre for the same feelings I do, you will not be disappointed.

I have a new favorite Author!
Revisado: 06-07-16
I stumbled onto this title as a "recommendation" from another book. So, what did I like about it? Well pretty much every single word. I enjoyed the story, I laughed out loud, I had to stop, go back and listen to certain parts again, I even had goosebumps at times! Keep in mind this is coming from a jaded 43 year old woman who has read pretty much every book on this planet including restaurant menu's if there is nothing else available.
Would I recommend this book?
Not if you have anything pressing to do while listening to it! This story WILL distract you & the narration is SPOT ON! I cannot wait to read and/or listen to more from this author!

Historia
Located off a desolate stretch of Interstate 50, Desperation, Nevada, has few connections with the rest of the world. It is a place, though, where the seams between worlds are thin. And it is a place where several travelers are abducted by Collie Entragian, the maniacal police officer of Desperation. Entragian uses various ploys for the abductions, from an arrest for drug possession to "rescuing" a family from a nonexistent gunman.
