Miss the previous female narrator, but still awesome! Ready for more books! Also ready for them to get over their polyamory hang ups and just be together!

I’m not saying I really doubted my love for my fellow Coloradian, Julie Huss, but it came real close, but my doubt was as unfounded as the mystery of the The Company, The Way the Silver Circle is deep.
I would warn readers of this story arc that you have to stick it out, and it’s worth it. It’s the first time I really questioned who would end up with who and generally really disliked one or two of the main characters. But Huss delivers, just like always.

I’m a lover of rh books, and have to admit I had high hopes for this bully/rh story when I read the details but it just proves the old saying “you can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig”.
**SPOILERS**
So the basis of the whole bullying is based on the unfounded notion that the MC, Emma, supposedly sent an anonymous note to Trent’s father that his wife was having an affair, and Trent blames Emma for his parents divorce. First, the depths that the 3 guys go to to make Emma “pay” for what she’s supposed to have done is lunacy. These are supposed to be high school and college aged young adults. The boys are painted as no more than toddlers in their ability to process adult situations and emotions. And really? Who ever blames their friend for their mom cheating (or even telling if she had actually done that) on anyone but their mom? Are we in a world where adults aren’t responsible for their own actions, especially parents?
Second, it’s revealed that the man the affair was with was Emma’s father, and Emma introduced the parents to each other. Trent then blames Emma for the affair and divorce, going so far as to think that she did it so she could get a new mom since hers is dead. How in the world anyone would ever blame a kid for introducing her parent to another parent is just ridiculous. And what person would think their friend introducing their parents would ever equal getting a new mommy? Seriously?
Last, the fact that the kids keep all of this from their parents is laughable. The level of bullying that Emma was subject to in HS would never go unnoticed by teachers (especially when they changed all of the stock photos on the school website to be of Emma in compromising positions, can we say distribution of child pornography?) it makes this whole story some sort of weird world where adults are oblivious to anything happening with their own children to a fantastical extreme.

I hate to say all negative things, so I will say the book has a kick ass title and a hell-of a cover. But maybe buy the print version if that suckers you in as at least you’ll have something too look at.

I feel like this could have been a good book, and maybe it gets better over the next two books, but I wouldn’t be finding out.

I know there is a better story in this book somewhere but as it is it’s pretty meh. There are lots of debt owed books that have the sweet and harsh and even violent edge to them but it seems this book reaches for all of those edges and just falls into an uncomfortable area of trying to make to protagonist not so much a bitch and then wanting the antagonist not to be such an idiot. Whatever. It ends on a cliffhanger, which is fine, but I have no desire to travel this literary road any further.
