Historia
By the time the Revolutionary War started, military confrontations between the world powers had become so common that combat was raised to the status of a fine art, consuming a large portion of time for adolescent males in training and comprising a sizable component of the economy. Weaponry was developed to a degree of quality not accessible to most North Americans, and European aristocrats were reared in the mastery of swordsmanship with an emphasis on the saber for military use.

There was some background information that I previously wasn’t aware but much of the information is commonly known. It is well paced and worth the listen though

Historia
The American Revolution is often portrayed as a high-minded, orderly event whose capstone, the Constitution, provided the ideal framework for a democratic, prosperous nation. Alan Taylor, two-time winner of the Pulitzer Prize, gives us a different creation story in this magisterial history of the nation's founding. Rising out of the continental rivalries of European empires and their native allies, Taylor's Revolution builds like a ground fire overspreading Britain's mainland colonies, fueled by local conditions, destructive, hard to quell.

Wide scope
Revisado: 03-28-24
This is probably not the book you want to start with if you’re just getting into the American Revolution. However, I’m well into the rabbit hole and this book phenomenal at filling in the color of all aspects of the years mentioned in the title. It doesn’t focus on one topic but paints with a broad stroke a masterpiece of all of the aspects of Revolution life and time period. I listened at 1.2 speed and it was perfectly paced.

One of my personal Favorites
Revisado: 08-14-11
I've read/listened to this story 8 times and each time I find it amazing. Tommy Carmellini is a joy to follow. His wily but sometimes cynical behaivor adds to his character and makes him a joy to read about. The ending is a little patchy but it does not deter from the book, it just makes you want to read the next novel. Overall a great story read by a great narrator. A absolute joy to listen to! Stephen Coonts is a master scribe!
