Historia
Xavier Collins was sitting in class when the System integrated Earth into the Greater Universe, where countless vast kingdoms, empires, and collectives battle for domination. He didn't know what choosing to be a Champion would entail. He just liked the sound of it. But when he's teleported to the aptly-named Tower of Champions, he must face challenges against those who have known about the System since birth.

just a book format combat log 1/2 through
Revisado: 03-11-25
no real character interaction. lots of tropes and pretty much just one guy fighting for nearly all of it. given all of that it's still mostly well written and easy to listen to. I will probably end up finishing it, about half through right now and some very cheesy fight bit got me to review it. never rolled my eyes so hard at a book as I did when he got to 1%health.

lost interest in chapter 40
Revisado: 03-04-25
The characters have never been that interesting throughout the series but I was still enjoying the well written dungeon crawl. I didnt enjoy the area outside the admin dungeon because there's no way for them to meet up and the characters and emotions were very simplistic. so I felt it should have been a seperate story. In chapter 40 in this book the author does something that just felt forced to change things up with MC. I pretty much immediately stopped caring about the story as I was only reading for the dungeon crawl bits and there wasnt enough established character work for me to listen through drama bits. I might skip through it to continue the series, but at least for now I just stopped listening after that chapter.

Strong characters, weak ending
Revisado: 01-05-25
The book is really entertaining and the characters and their interactions are amusing and well done. But the author trips at the finish line. The bad guys plan seems to have been. "I hope everyone looks the other way and some people make poor choices for 5 minutes so I can do my evil plot." and the frustrating part is that is the plan that works. I think the real issue is the author is great at writing interactions with sympathetic characters but struggles to express what and why for BIg bad evils actions. You're reading a character story for 35 chapters and then for the last 3 you're get a weird and unsatisfying cliffhanger.

good at action scenes, not great at social scenes. I just never ended up really feeling engaged by the main characters story which led to me not finishing the book with only a few hours left.

1 hr in and I don't even remember MCs name. I have read a lot of litrpg and just didnt find anything engaging in the 1St hour. Alien world but now there's crows... in the first 10 minutes he meets an alien that gives up and I think the book would have been better served keeping that character around for a bit as an explainer and way to convey MCs personality through conversation

made me lose interest in the series
Revisado: 10-07-24
This story would be more interesting from the daughters perspectives. MC is 'the only one' who notices or does things in combat everyone else is too slow or dumb. the girls have more interesting abilities but theyre very poorly used. For goodness sake one of them has a summon things you have drawn on paper ability and never prepare summons in advance. always drawing in combat if she needs something.
just really missed opportunities and lacking MC

minor spoiler ahead -the book is well written but I just lost all interest about a third of the way in when the MC is cheated on. like I just don't want to deal with that in a fantasy novel.

Who would have guessed that? When these cruel gods shuffled Earth like a deck of cards, nothing was in the same place anymore. Monsters, dungeons, and magical items appear scattered across the globe. 2 decent books mushed together for some reason
Revisado: 08-12-24
1st half lives up to the name of the story. second half is a cultivation story. MC has different powers and behaviors in each story and other than having the same name and sometimes thinking about story 1 the MC is a different character. story 1 and story 2 are kluged together by some plot driven uncharacteristic bad decisions by MC. I nearly dropped the book completely at the shift in tone. At the end of the day both books are decent but they would have felt 100% better as seperate stories with seperate characters in the same world.
