Historia
Helene Wecker's dazzling debut novel tells the story of two supernatural creatures who appear mysteriously in 1899 New York. Chava is a golem, a creature made of clay, brought to life by a strange man who dabbles in dark Kabbalistic magic. When her master dies at sea on the voyage from Poland, she is unmoored and adrift as the ship arrives in New York Harbor. Ahmad is a jinni, a being of fire, born in the ancient Syrian Desert. Trapped in an old copper flask by a Bedouin wizard centuries ago, he is released accidentally by a tinsmith in a Lower Manhattan shop.

I have listened to this twice now, The story is magical and interesting. Unpredictable to the end. The characters are alive, rich, and deep. The Narration is one of the best I've ever heard. It will now become one of my "sleep books," as in, the ones I play to fall asleep to, and help with insomnia. Far from boring, it is beautifully slow and hypnotic. I'll drift off to it with relish and revisit parts of the story with a sleepy smile. IIs relaxed place and careful unfolding are perfect and calm distractions for a monkey mind. Thank you author and narrator, for this gift.

England, 1926: Wedgefield Manor, deep in the tranquil Essex countryside, provides a welcome rest stop for Jane and her matchmaking Aunt Millie before their return to America. While Millie spends time with her long-lost daughter, Lillian, and their host, Lord Hughes, Jane fills the hours devouring mystery novels and taking flying lessons - much to Millie's disapproval. But any danger in the air is eclipsed by tragedy on the ground when one of the estate's mechanics, Air Force veteran Simon Marshall, is killed in a motorcar collision.

Revisado: 12-20-22
I've listened to all 3 Jane Wonderly books several times, and I just enjoy them so much. The characters really come to life and are full of depth. The stories are clever and packed with rich detail. Jane is a strong character, and fights sexism with wit and charm, but I still feel that the books are an accurate representation of the times they're set in. The sexism shows itself realistically. all in all, wonderful little mystery books!

Historia
Zero is just one of 20,000 people aboard a spaceship bound for a new planet set to be colonized. The journey is over a century long but luckily, everyone is in stasis, so they’ll be safe and sound asleep during the trip. Everyone that is, except for Zero, whose pod has malfunctioned, waking him up a hundred years early. His initial excitement in roaming the ship alone quickly turns to a heart-stopping interstellar adventure when a family of space pirates show up, trying to hijack the ship and take the colonizers hostage.

Excellent! Can't wait for the next one!! ♥️
Revisado: 05-27-22
I love these books and have become quite fond of the characters! They're so right for each other and both have deep and complex pasts that keep things interesting and slowly unfolding. Jane really stands her ground when she knows what is important, and trusts her instincts, and it's inspiring! Redvers is whip smart and cool as a cucumber. it's delightful to watch them work through tricky situations both in the story and in thier own heads! I do wish there were a couple of descriptions of romantic scenes in this book, but still, am very satisfied with where they're at in their relationship. My only very small complaint is that I don't love the narrators voice, I think she sounds too old for Jane, but otherwise she does a great job reading the books, good accents, intonation, good speed, etc. Overall, I love 'em, and can't wait for the next one!!

Historia
The colonists from the Pathfinder have arrived on Kaguya, a planet with low gravity but a very dense atmosphere. It’s fun to jump around, but the air makes you loopy - and worse than that, the heavy atmosphere means that wind storms, although rare, are absolutely devastating. Zero and Nyx help to get everything locked down before the first big storm, but they stumble onto a group of thieves who have stolen some mining equipment. Before the kids have a chance to get away and tell anyone, the storm hits and the massive winds carry them far away.
