Deep personal reflection of the characters
Revisado: 10-28-24
I love period stories… this one spanned a lifetime with great insight and passion as the characters bring you into their most intimate moments & thoughts as they navigate a time when identity was very judged and exposed…
The epilogue brought tears to me as a 74 year old gay man… we must all face our own mortality & works like this wonderful novel give that journey value & substance.
Thank you to the author & the narrator. Well done!

Historia
In the era of Grindr and same-sex marriage, gay bars are closing down at an alarming rate. What, then, was the gay bar? Set between Los Angeles, San Francisco, and London, Gay Bar takes us on a time-traveling, transatlantic bar hop through pulsing nightclubs, after-work dives, hardcore leather bars, gay cafes, and saunas, asking what these places meant to their original clientele, what they meant to the author as a younger man, and what they mean now.

Valentino Prince is restarting his life in New York. He has a long and promising future ahead and he only registered for Death-Cast after his twin sister nearly died in a car accident.

A must read for young gay boy & men
Revisado: 09-08-22
David Leavitt is one of my favorite & most influential authors. His ability to bring you into the lives of his characters is astonishing. I just finished the audiobook version & loved every minute of it. The discussion with the author at the end was a delightful bonus!

Oh the English!

Delightful proper English & a glimpse into those bygone times when it was dangerous in England to be queer. We are relentless in our pursuit of sex & happiness!
