Historia
Jane Austen fan Amelia Bennett sneaks away from a dull tour of an English country manor, only to run into a man more dashing than Mr. Darcy himself. About to lose his ancestral home to family debts, charming aristocrat Tom Calder invites his American guest to join him in drinking his way through the estate’s priceless wine collection. But when they wake in his bed the next morning, they’re convinced that in their drunken haze they witnessed a murder. Problem is, the body has vanished and no one believes them.

Not bad, but not amazing
Revisado: 05-20-24
This book was a little too predictable, with scenes of being chased or in danger dragging on much too long for my taste. The idea of the story was good. I was very glad there was never a point where the woman mistakenly runs away due to a misunderstanding like happens in every Hallmark movie and most rom-com books.

This book has interesting characters and lots of unexpected twists. I am looking forward to the second one.
Listen to the interview with the authors at the end. I was tempted to skip it, but it was actually quite interesting.

This Psych 312 assignment just might send me off the deep end. Determining whether love at first sight really exists with Robbie Moravian as my project partner of all people? He’s the sappiest man alive, so upbeat I could scream, and clearly rooting for happy endings at every turn. How does he not learn from experience considering our own meet-cute last semester almost got us expelled? But we both need to pass this course to graduate. So we’re interviewing five random couples about their meet-cutes and relationships and spending all this time together. Which is certainly...educational.

Okay, but not as good as her others
Revisado: 03-09-23
I loved Cara Bastone’s other Audible originals, but this one kind of fell flat. Honestly I almost stopped listening when they were interviewing the first couple, but, I stuck with it and it ended up being a fluffy, light listen. Not one I would listen to again.

Historia
Savannah Cade's dreams are coming true. The Claire Donovan, editor-in-chief of the most successful romance publishing company in the country, has requested to see the manuscript Savannah's been secretly writing. The only problem: she's an editor for a different company, and their philosophy is only highbrow works are worth printing and romance should be reserved for the lowest level of Dante's inferno.

Fairly decent story spoiled by poor narration
Revisado: 02-24-23
The premise of this story was cute but very predictable— like a typical Hallmark channel movie. It was clean and sweet and occasionally funny.
The narrator—How does one become a professional book reader and not know how to pronounce the most basic words? Every reading of the word “Thanks” raised my blood pressure exponentially. Please, Talon, adjust your pronunciation of that word for any future narrations. The “th” should be soft like the word “thin”, rather than voiced like the word “then”. Please please please no more “Then-Ques”. Thank you. ;-)

I’m stopping this series after this one
Revisado: 09-27-22
I don’t want to spoil the story for people by giving too many details, but of all the books in the series, this one has the poorest writing and story line. The characters are getting cringy and making horrible life choices.
The author’s weird phrasing and constant use of the word “frowned” is getting tiresome.

Historia
Frances Wynn, the American-born Countess of Harleigh, enjoys more freedom as a widow than she did as a wife. After an obligatory year spent mourning her philandering husband, Reggie, she puts aside her drab black gowns, leaving the countryside and her money-grubbing in-laws behind. With her young daughter in tow, Frances rents a home in Belgravia and prepares to welcome her sister, Lily, arriving from New York - for her first London season.

Couldn't stand the narrator--had to quit listening
Revisado: 04-04-22
This story was decent, seemed clever, and was fairly interesting. I wanted to know how it turned out--but I couldn't keep listening. The narrator reads every line of the main character in the strangest cadence. It's hard to describe. I'd say it sounds as if she's reading a recipe. "Three eggs....lightly beaten...Half cup of flour...1 cup sugar..." Every line has the same intonation at the end and the same rhythm. By chapter 8, I found that I was mentally correcting her reading/acting ability rather than really hearing the book.

Historia
Ever have one of those days where life just plain sucks? Welcome to my last three months - ever since I caught my can’t-be-soon-enough-ex-husband cheating with his paralegal. I’m 35 years old, and I’ve lost my NYC apartment, my job, my money, and frankly, my dignity. But the final heartache in the suck sandwich of my life? My great-aunt Maggie died. The only family member who’s ever gotten me. Even after death, though, she’s helping me get back up again. Too bad that bravado only lasts as long as it takes to drive into Huckleberry Hills. And see the house.

Not interesting. Too predictable
Revisado: 04-04-22
I am giving up on this book after chapter 8. I just can’t get into it. It’s rather predictable and the main character isn’t interesting enough to want to know what happens to her. The narrator is pretty good.

This was a super fun book--short and sweet! The narration was fantastic--they sounded like they were having a conversation rather than reading lines. I like these types of rom-coms that are clean and fun. More please!

I enjoy the Viva Durant stories. They are fun and interesting without obvious solutions. The narrator is fabulous. When I listened to the first book I questioned whether it was just one person, or a cast--She's that good!

Welcome to rock bottom in Bristol. As Josh starts questioning all his life choices, he has a mad thought: Maybe he would just be better flipping a coin. Not the best 5/10
Revisado: 03-23-22
This book was just okay. The story itself was pretty cute, but then there were random bits thrown in that were bizarre to me and made a cute story kind of gross (phone call to sex line, getting lost in a street full of sex workers in Europe.)
The narrator was fine for the main character, but he really struggled with female voices.
