Historia
If you want to disappear, start again, make a new life, a small Irish village is probably not the wisest place to go, since anonymity is not something we do well here. The arrival of someone new is always a cause for twitching curtains and whispered conversations. But here, like everywhere, people have their secrets, and as the local sergeant I’m expected to have my eyes peeled for anything unusual. And I do. Usually. Until I don’t, and the consequences are potentially fatal.

Historia
In this astonishing debut, the venerable but gossipy New York literary scene is twisted into a claustrophobic fun house of paranoia, horror, and wickedly dark humor. George March’s latest novel is a smash. No one is prouder than Mrs. March, his doting wife. But one morning, the shopkeeper of her favorite patisserie suggests that his protagonist is based on Mrs. March herself. Clutching her ostrich-leather pocketbook, she flees, that one casual remark destroying her belief that she knew everything about her husband - as well as herself.

Very disappointed in this book
Revisado: 03-07-25
I kept listening, hoping it would get better...Nope, the entire book is disjointed and confusing. It took me about 2 chapters to realize Mrs. March had mental issues... Audible has this title listed as part comedy...there is not one humorous line in this book. Mrs. March was similar to Johanna, the lead in her husband's new book... they are both pathetic creatures. You want to feel empathy for Mrs. March but she is so self-absorbed and her lack of being a responsible parent made it is a difficult task. And if I had to read one more reference to maggots or cockroaches, I thought I would scream like Mrs. March. I don't recommend this title. It is disturbing and you will find yourself repeatedly asking "What?" and "Why"? without any answers to the questions. If there had been one thread holding the story together it might have been better but the only thing one chapter had in common with the one before or after was Mrs. March's demise into insanity...and it wasn't a pretty journey.

Historia
Frances Wynn, the American-born Countess of Harleigh, enjoys more freedom as a widow than she did as a wife. After an obligatory year spent mourning her philandering husband, Reggie, she puts aside her drab black gowns, leaving the countryside and her money-grubbing in-laws behind. With her young daughter in tow, Frances rents a home in Belgravia and prepares to welcome her sister, Lily, arriving from New York - for her first London season.

Countess Harleigh Mysteries are a “Must Read”
Revisado: 02-12-24
Dianne Freeman did her homework on the Victorian England. Her knowledge of the time period keeps the reader engaged throughout the entire book. Intertwining great characters with a unique storyline makes the Countess of Harleigh Mysteries a “must read” for anyone who enjoys cozy mysteries. And Sarah Zimmerman is a fabulous reader/narrator. She easily flows between dialects and character voices professionally so the listener doesn’t get confused. Her voice is perfect for audiobook listening.

Historia
Though American by birth, Frances Wynn, the now-widowed Countess of Harleigh, has adapted admirably to the quirks and traditions of the British aristocracy. On August 12th, each year, otherwise known as the Glorious Twelfth, most members of the upper class retire to their country estates for grouse-shooting season. Frances has little interest in hunting - or birds or a second husband - and is expecting to spend a quiet few months in London with her almost-engaged sister, Lily, until the throng returns.

Historia
Trust is a delicate thing, and no one knows that better than Rosalind Thorne. Lady Melbourne has entrusted her with recovering a packet of highly sensitive private letters stolen from her desk. The contents of these letters hold great interest for the famous poet Lord Byron, who had carried on a notorious public affair with Lady Melbourne's daughter-in-law, the inconveniently unstable Lady Caroline Lamb. Rosalind is to take up residence in Melbourne House, posing as Lady Melbourne's confidential secretary. There, she must discover the thief and regain possession of the letters.

My name is Sister Trixie Lavender, and I'm an occasionally possessed excommunicated nun. I was booted from the convent after doing something unspeakable. Something I had no control over. Something that lives inside me to this day, exploding out like that chest-burster in Alien when I least suspect it.
