I love everything I've read bye Anne. Although I feel that people who abridge books are butchers, anything written by here is worth the read.

it was ok
Revisado: 08-26-18
The story had potential and it was well written but one theme kept prevaing to the point that it was predictable and unenjoyable. There wasn't really any satisfying outcomes or "ups" to make you feel like you wanted to keep reading. It also left you hanging without the satisfaction of a decent cliff hanger. The reader did a fine job.

Not what I expected.
Revisado: 06-11-15
I received this book free in exchange for an honest review. My genre of choice is sci-fi, witch is why I picked this title. I only rated it 3 stars because it was more of a political intrigue/police investigation witch held no interest for me. The storyline around Longshadow was one of the hardest because of the brutal violence in one particular section yet his story was also the most compelling. If I could give this book a movie rating it would definitely be R, for graphic violence and language, both of witch I try to avoid. I need to remember to ask this before I request the book. The narrator was good but at times when it was pertinent to be "speaking" loud as through a mega phone and such, it blasted so loud I was grateful I wasn't driving or I probably would have jumped so hard and gotten into an accident. Thankfully those spots were minimal if unpleasant.

Historia
As long as the people of Pern could remember, the Holds had protected them from Thread, the deadly silver strands that fell from the sky and ravaged the land. In exchange for sanctuary in the huge stone fortresses, the people tithed to their lord Holders, who in turn supported the Weyrs, whose dragons were Pern's greatest weapon against Thread.

amazing
Revisado: 01-30-15
Anne McCaffery is undoubtedly one of the best writers of sci fi/fantasy that has ever lived. She gives her characters such depth that you feel that you know them as a real person. She can conjure up such strong feelings that you can rejoice as well as weep for and with them. It's amazing how she can weave a story from so many perspectives without losing any integrity in the process. Her stories are the standard to which most of my book choices are based on.

all of her books are a must read in this one is no exception. Thanks to the outpouring of fans she has brought back, Robinton , the Master Harper of Pern. This story invokes tears of joy, sadness and pain, as well as cheers of triumph. The narrator does a fair job I'm not a big fan of his female voices but it doesn't detract much from the story.

waited for something exciting to happen
Revisado: 01-09-15
interesting, I like post apocalyptic stuff and although it teetered between a more realistic view and a sickening sweet big happy family feel. I kept waiting for a climax but wasn't satisfied. I never did find out what really happened and didn't get the Impression that I ever will.

I'm torn
Revisado: 09-06-14
It started slow and didn't grab my interest. I like the undercurrent of loyalty and friendship but I didn't like the rebellion, even if it was done to support the loyalty factor. It seemed to be written maybe for about the 10 year old range but had a little teenage content. The problem that I have with that is that I don't think we need to be pushing dating and relationships on our young people or to run off to Florida because their life isn't going the way they like. As the story developed I liked how barriers of prejudice (fairies hating humans) were being breached. All in all tho, I didn't find this story very good.
The narration was fine, nothing stood out to me which can be a good thing. It felt natural and easy to listen to.

Original spin on old "fairy" tales
Revisado: 09-06-14
Story was good, a tad bit, too predictable in some spots and totally unexpected in others. Kiernan sometimes acts a bit too immature and Meghan still needs more character depth. Wish is just the right amount of childish wonder and enthusiasm. It was interesting to find out more of his history and why he is the way he is. There was a good cliff hanger, I look forward to reading book 3.
Meghan Lewis, the narrator, did a great job of reading the characters so you always knew who was speaking with out needing to make exaggerating changes. There was one character who got on my nerves though, he spoke in a slow bored tone, which fit his character perfect, but he was still annoying!
