For context, this is my first foray into this genre. A friend recommended this particular book in the series.

Overall, I really enjoyed the story. I did not know what to expect and was pleasantly surprised by how the layers unraveled, each more complex than the last. The ending provided a strong sense of closure and left me a fan. I do have two main pieces of feedback.

My first criticism is that the story starts slow and details are introduced with an air of disorder. This may be purposeful to highlight the juxtaposition of how well the story wraps itself up in the end. However, the reader must wade through with patience first.

My second criticism is with the contrasting qualities of the intimate scenes. Again, this may be purposeful to show the stark difference between the beginning and the end; but to me it felt like two could have been different writers.

I got the version with audio narration and wanted to quickly say that the narration is well done. As it was my first jump into the romantic genre, I worried that a bad narration would influence my immersion. Thankfully, the quality performance actually helped me imagine the tone of the characters and engrossed me further into the story.
