Historia
Drawing on their own cross cultural experience in global mission, O'Brien and Richards show how better self-awareness and understanding of cultural differences in language, time, and social mores allow us to see the Bible in fresh and unexpected ways. Getting beyond our own cultural assumptions is increasingly important for being Christians in our interconnected and globalized world. Learn to read Scripture as a member of the global body of Christ.

Change theChange the Way I Read and Think About Scripture
Revisado: 08-20-23
This book challenged me in so many ways to look at how I misread Scripture. From culture, to language, to implied understandings….there were powerful points that constantly made me want go bury myself in research & drop to my knees in gratitude to God. I’m grateful the western theology I’ve grown up with has been challenged.
My faith hasn’t been this real to me since I walked in Israel and could see the places in the Bible for myself. The insight was that powerful.

Historia
His street name was Daylight. But he was a nightmare. On the streets of New York, darkness and violence reigned. Dimas "Daylight" Salaberrios began selling drugs when he was 11 years old, and by 16 he had served his first stint at the notorious Rikers Island prison. Dimas saw only one way to survive: by reigning over the streets. He would be the richest, most powerful ruler in the hood...or die trying. Street God is the true story of one man's dangerous journey through the underworld.

Down to earth, real, and electrifyingly propelling.

Charged my faith. Very real and down to earth. A present reminder that God is still active and refuses to be boxed in.

Tough stories but great book

Good story, not a fan of the narrator.
Revisado: 12-28-15
This book was very slow to start, but in the end had me in awe of those children overseas whose stories are rarely told. It's a good look at the other side, and how we can reach out.
The narration was poor. The narrator attempted to do voices...which was unnecessary. Her voice was pretty boring. I pushed through because I wanted to know how an American could relate to an African child of war.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Revisado: 07-04-15
I learned so much through this book just by hearing Amanda's own journey of learning to ask. It was as if she sat down with me and had a heart-to-heart, understanding my struggle at every moment by opening up about her own. So grateful.
