If you are searching for a book that stands at the intersection of faith and business, David Hoffman’s new book “Relationships over Rules” is for you. I started working with David at his firm in Charlotte last year. After listening to this audiobook, I am so grateful to call David a friend and colleague. David doesn’t just talk the talk, he walks the walk. He is an unabashed Christian and the impact his faith has had on his life and the lives of those around him is shared powerfully in this book.

David’s story of his childhood is hard to listen to at times. But he draws you in and shows you through each season of life how he wrestled with God, his faith, and his purpose. It is a good reminder to all of us, especially entrepreneurs, that redemption and success can be found in every situation—although it may mean that we redefine what success means to us. David shows us that money, growth, and expansion are just one part of what it means to contribute to the marketplace, but those metrics do not add the most value to the business or the consumer.

Instead, David argues that we find real value by investing in the relationships we form with everyone God places in our lives. Even if you don’t think of yourself as a person of faith, the principles in this book are invaluable. They will not only prove successful in your business but will help you find balance and fulfillment as you do the work you were put here to do.

The audiobook is short, well-read by the author, and something you can listen to over and over again.
