What made the experience of listening to I, Strahd: The War Against Azalin the most enjoyable?

You get to follow Strahd, who seems to be this immortal, amazingly intelligent creature operate as an underdog. It's a gripping story of intrigue where he tries to work both with and against his guest Azalin.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Lord Strahd. His intellect is truly fascinating and his thoughts are interesting and insightful during the extent of the book.

Lord Strahd, he's perfect for this role!

An excellent classic vampire story

Would you consider the audio edition of I, Strahd: The Memoirs of a Vampire to be better than the print version?

I don't know. I haven't read the print version.

In this book, the moment Strahd finds Tatianna's killer and condemns him to a nightmarish death.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

The same as the book's undertitle, because it mostly just explores how Strahd became a vampire and how it was being an vampire.

This book is good, but the second book is even better. It's worth listening to this just to be able to listen to the sequel.

An horrible boring sleeping pill

I was expecting an epic tale, but the character Lord Soth is probably one of the most boring characters I've ever heard of. I might've been the narrator but I got the image of a fist clenched, scorning, dull and constantly angry bastard when I finished this audiobook. In the book we follow Lord Soth's journey to get back to his homeland Krynn from Ravenloft. It begins by him slaughtering a village of people for being lied to. The only interesting character is of course Lord Strahd, because Strahd is a good character - he has some virtues at least - while Soth seems to lack any and all manner of virtues and makes his character entirely one sided.

He doesn't develop at all during the story and the side characters are more or less one dimensional as well. A cowardly Vistani, an eager dwarf and the rest of the characters being personality ridden undead makes for a poor and starved cast. Especially if you concern that Soth is unremarkable in of himself.

No, don't even think about trying this horrible piece of work.

An exciting story and introductory of the magics!

What did you love best about Death of a Darklord?

I liked the most that it was definitely dramatic story with several interesting characters that changes as the story progresses. I also liked the narrator.

What other book might you compare Death of a Darklord to and why?

Of course I would recommend Ravenloft: I, Strahd - The Memoirs of a Vampire thanks to the narrator, but otherwise there are not many similarities. This is better compared to books like the first chrestomanci or harry potter books. It's about discovering that Elaine is "the chosen one". It's not so much about the actual wonder of magic though as it is with those books.

Which character – as performed by Nick Sullivan – was your favorite?

Johnatan probably. He's the father and head of a household of magic users. He battles his prejudices of magic when he discovers that his adopted daughter develops a dangerous talent for it. It's even more interesting because she gives him more and more reason to fear her growing magical abilities as the story goes on.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Johnatan tries to comfort his daughter and lie to her about his fear of her magic, she reads his mind (whenever it was by accident is ambiguous) and tells him that she can read his mind and that he's lying - which is followed by him calling her a witch. It sparks off the bullet point when the book starts getting really interesting.

It's a book with a dull beginning and there's not a continuation on it on Audible as of yet. I definitely recommend it.

A gripping tale of Love, Aristocracy and Identity

Would you consider the audio edition of The Great Gatsby (Dramatised) to be better than the print version?

I don't honestly know because I haven't read the entire unabridged or printed version.

What does Bryan Dick and Andrew Scott bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

There are far more narrators than those two. This book features an entire cast of readers that adapt to give impressive personalities to the characters in the story. Of course this is also on the account of the writing, but the actors are by no means bad at portraying the characters.
