this was an enlightening intro to Japanese culture
Revisado: 03-07-23
Very well written and very well read. Each chapter title is clear and thorough.
I would like to now read a book that dives into each one of these topics more thoroughly.
A good read.

feels angry and negative
Revisado: 07-29-22
If you are looking for positive support, not sure this book is for you because the tone is negative. This book sounds like it’s written by someone whose venting frustration about living with someone with BPD. Yes, it provides some valid tools, but tone feels frustrated and the reader’s performance just feels angry to me. I wish she read it with less emotion and more empathy. Does anyone else hear the judginess in her voice?

Historia
Nobu needs no introduction. One of the world's most widely acclaimed restaurateurs, his influence on food and hospitality can be found at the highest levels of haute-cuisine to the food trucks you frequent during the work week. But now, we are finally introduced to the private Nobu, and what makes Nobu special, and what made him famous, is the spirit of what exists on these pages. He shows us repeatedly that success is as much about perseverance in the face of adversity as it is about innate talent.

Historia
Women have been making strides towards equality for decades, or so we’re often told. They’ve been increasingly entering male-dominated areas of the workforce and consistently surpassing their male peers in grades, university attendance, and degrees. They’ve recently stormed the political arena with a vengeance. But despite all of this, the payoff is—quite literally—not there: the gender pay gap has held steady at about 20% since 2000. And the number of female CEOs for Fortune 500 companies has actually been declining.

isn’t detailed and deep enough to be effective
Revisado: 12-21-21
very timely and bold.
I would have loved it if it were more in-depth - it’s not deep enough to be a real manual.
It feels like something between a thesis project and a self help book.
I need a book like this.
But this book didn’t go there.
I hope this author gives it another shot and makes this book again, but takes it more seriously.

Customers, followers, subscribers. It's easy to just look at the numbers. How many likes? How many purchases? How many email subscribers? But as entrepreneurs, we have to remember that there are people behind all that data. People who are looking to us to be a leader, to give advice, and to care. In this dog-eat-dog world, these are the people who are looking for someone who they can trust and who they know have their best interests in mind.

Historia
We are now living in a world with over 100 brands of bottled water. The United States alone is home to over 45,000 shopping malls. And there are more than 19 million customized beverage choices a barista can whip up at your local Starbucks. Whether it’s good or bad, the real question is why we behave this way in the first place. Why do we telegraph our affiliations or our beliefs with symbols, signs, and codes? Brand Thinking and Other Noble Pursuits contains 20 interviews with the world’s leading designers and thinkers in branding.

pretty good book about branding
Revisado: 02-18-20
I liked the insights the subjects had on branding.
I wish the narrator Nicole Vilencia wouldn’t change voice pitch for each character- it’s distracting.
She’s a narrator, not acting out the parts.
other than that strange choice she makes she does a pretty good job. Mispronounces words she doesn’t know here and there, but not too much.
Overall a good listen if you are interested in branding.
