Historia
Pino Lella wants nothing to do with the war or the Nazis. He's a normal Italian teenager - obsessed with music, food, and girls - but his days of innocence are numbered. When his family home in Milan is destroyed by Allied bombs, Pino joins an underground railroad helping Jews escape over the Alps, and falls for Anna, a beautiful widow six years his senior. In an attempt to protect him, Pino's parents force him to enlist as a German soldier - a move they think will keep him out of combat.

Absolutely wonderful.
Revisado: 09-30-22
The most informative, powerful and emotionally moving renditions of a wonderful work of genius. There have been a number of works portraying the Nazi occupation of Italy but none have been so clearly biographical and factual as this. Truly a masterpiece in recreating the life and times of Pino Lela and the love of his life Anna Marta!
A truly exceptional book!

An Excellent Story
Revisado: 10-12-19
The performance of the story was excellent. Based on history, this portion of history is best brought to light through historical fiction.
Very Well Done.

Beautiful story about the Italian story in WWII

Pure Delight!
Revisado: 11-25-18
We thoroughly enjoyed this book and the Audible presentation. On an extended driving vacation we started listening to it between National Park stops. Our travel companions surprised us with continual requests to restart the book. All of us were captured by the fact that it presented this real life experience in such rich and colorful detail. It is also a commentary on our history of immigration and asylum after WWII. An excellent read!!!
