Boring

This book was nothing special. I reread any books I enjoy. This won’t be one of them. Could not work up any empathy for the characters.

Historia
Jenna’s parents had finally given in, and there she was, at a New York club with her best friends, watching the legendary band Avenue A, carrying her demo in hopes of slipping it to the guitarist, Jake Kincade. Then, from the stage, Jake catches her eye, and smiles. It’s the best night of her life. It’s the last night of her life. Minutes later, Jake’s in the alley getting some fresh air, and the girl from the dance floor comes stumbling out, sick and confused and deathly pale. He tries to help, but it’s no use. He doesn’t know that someone in the crowd has jabbed her with a needle.

An average instalment for this series
Revisado: 01-29-24
This book wasn’t as good as Payback in Death but was still well worth the listen. Mavis’ second pregnancy and the great house project need to finish soon. It was nice to see Jake and Nadine’s relationship hit the next level. It occurs to me that I’m writing about these characters as if they were real and friends of mine. I think that’s due to the author and narrator’s skills.

Historia
Famed sculptor Clare Kimball has commanded the attention of the New York art world, but troubling memories from childhood have drawn her home to Maryland, to the town where she grew up and where her father died so long ago in circumstances never really explained. Nothing much has changed in Emmitsboro—except Cameron Rafferty, the onetime high school bad boy turned town sheriff. The only hint of Cam’s wild nature is the light in his eyes when he looks at Clare. In Cam’s strong arms Clare is seduced into falling in love—and believing that her small-town world is safe.

Should have listened to the negative reviews
Revisado: 12-08-23
This book was just horrible. Early in chapter three I just gave up and skipped to the end to hear the HEA but even that bit of lightness was overwhelmed by the Epilogue. I wasted a credit and a couple of hours of my life. I urge you not to do the same.

CLIFFHANGER
Revisado: 11-24-23
You'd think I'd know enough by now to wait for the whole series to be released on Audible. I didn't but hopefully the wait for the second and third instalments won't be too long as I thoroughly enjoyed this book. There were snippets from previous books but not so many that this book felt like a rehash of any of them. I liked all the characters and the narration by Brittany Pressley was just great. I'm going to look for more books narrated by her.

Historia
Lt. Eve Dallas is just home from a long overdue vacation when she responds to a call of an unattended death. The victim is Martin Greenleaf, retired Internal Affairs Captain. At first glance, the scene appears to be suicide, but the closer Eve examines the body, the more suspicious she becomes. An unlocked open window, a loving wife and family, a too-perfect suicide note—Eve's gut says it's a homicide. After all, Greenleaf put a lot of dirty cops away during his forty-seven years in Internal Affairs. It could very well be payback—and she will not rest until the case is closed.

Somehow this series just keeps getting better. I love the growth and changes in the central characters, particularly Peabody. Its going to be a long wait for the next instalment.

Other books are better
Revisado: 05-24-23
I've been a Nora Roberts fan for years but somehow this book left me wanting something different. I guess when you've written as many books as she has it must be difficult to come up with something completely new each time. That said, its a good story with good strong characters and I will listen to it again. I agree with the reviewer who disliked the phrase "my ladies". I cringed every time it was used!

Historia
When Singer sewing machine tycoon Edward Clark built a luxury apartment building on Manhattan’s Upper West Side in the late 1800s, it was derisively dubbed “the Dakota” for being as far from the center of the downtown action as its namesake territory on the nation’s western frontier. Despite its remote location, the quirky German Renaissance-style castle, with its intricate façade, peculiar interior design, and gargoyle guardians peering down on Central Park, was an immediate hit, particularly among the city’s well-heeled intellectuals and artists.

Rushed Ending

This book is a fine wrap up to the series. Marco and Brian's wedding, particulary the one in Philadelphia would have made for a more satisfying ending.

Confusing
Revisado: 03-13-22
Without the included pdf file this would have been even more confusing than it was. I'd expected more archaeological and technical information about how the warriors were created and less genealogy. I would not recommend this book.
