Tough to listen through

The narration in this book was tough to handle. There were awkward pauses in the sentences that didn't make any sense. The conversations between characters didn't sound like people were talking to each other, just reading. When the woman had inflection it was whiny. The top aid sounded like a character with mental handicaps. There was a lot of time where it kinda sounded like it was given over a telephone or far away, but then just as I'd get adjusted to it, a phrase would be blurted out in what I'd call regular sound. It was only just over an hour & I had to force myself to listen.


The story didn't hook me & I just couldn't get into this one. I don't know if it just didn't work as a story or the narration/sound quality ruined it.

What just happened?

This book was so confusing. This was the first book I've ever listened to where they narrated the table of contents. Why was that included? It's frustrating bec it feels like it's just done to add time to the book.

Then the story itself is just really confusing. I'm all for suspending belief and assuming that people are madly in love after 3 seconds and crazy things happen in 2 days, but sheesh.

The narrating wasn't bad, but the billionaire sounded like a snooty character impression of a real housewife & was supposed to be British but didn't have an accent.

I was gifted a copy of this audiobook for my honest opinion.

Intense. Addicting. CLIFF HANGER.

I'm hooked. And I honestly hate myself for it. I usually know better than to get started on a series that doesn't have all of the volumes released, but I erred.

I'm in though. Deep. I'm waiting on the edge of my seat for the next debt.

My only real complaint with this book is that the first 2 hours and 40 minutes were literally the last book. I understand some catch up at the beginning, but that's excessive. And it was literally just replay. I skipped through, but it's unfair to make the book seem longer that way.

I'll still buy the next one. Damnit, I'm hooked.

This story had an interesting premise & a plot twist that I'll try not to spoil here. There was a lot of promise. The idea was different, but just as I was getting into the story, there would be a sort of chop into the next thing. It kinda felt like it was missing the fleshy parts of the story. The BDSM in this was light, and again, just as it was starting to ramp up, it stopped & sorta ruined the moment. The end of the book was just plain depressing, I think it was supposed to be a HEA, but it didn't feel that way at all. I like a filthy BDSM story, even non-consensual, but I was traumatized by the descriptions of CBT & beating of young children. This book became very dark & not in a sexy way.

I have no idea why the narrator of a story that was easily 85% from a female POV was male. It really felt awkward for most of the book. The actual narration was good (quality editing, sound/volume levels, etc.).

A little bit of everything in a different package

I really enjoyed this book. It was a refreshing break from the same sort of story lines I've been hearing for a while now. I wasn't sure if from the synopsis, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was well written & well narrated. There was plenty dirty talk & hot scenes without it being the entire plot. Not saying I don't generally enjoy that, but shesh sometimes a girl needs a little variety. I appreciated that nothing seemed forced or overbearing in this one, the character development and sexy parts all worked.

Unfortunately, it was incredibly difficult to suffer through this one. I can't honestly tell you if the subject matter really bothered me (it's definitely not everyone's kink) or if the narrator did a decent job, because there were so many editing issues that I was constantly distracted. I've had to read out loud before, I get that sometimes you misspeak or use the wrong cadence in a sentence, but honestly for a 3 hour audiobook that priced relatively high, I'd expect that the repeated or misspoken words were edited before the audiobook was released. If I'd paid for my copy, I'd likely ask for a refund. It's unfortunate that somewhere along the road someone is getting lazy (or cheap?) and ruining what could be good content and also a quality listening experience. Also worth noting, I listened to the preview, and didn't hear the mistakes or at least wasn't completely distracted enough to avoid the book altogether.

Beware - Unchecked Racism

I've waited a long while to write this one to be sure I knew how I felt about it... and I'm still right where I started. The premise was kinda interesting, even though it made the ending predictable. There was a plot twist I wasn't expecting, but it almost took something away from the kind of justice I felt like the book needed. The wife in this story was a mess, and we were clearly supposed to dislike her for her excessive spending, deception, and overall poor treatment of her husband. I just couldn't understand why she never really got checked on her racism. She called her supposed best friend a "mutt" and made a young girl cry with her racial slurs and notions, not to mention all the side comments. I found myself cringing a lot through this story. Maybe I'm not in the target demographic, but I sincerely hope that even people of the same race as the family in the book are just as averse to the racism.

Entirely too quick...

I generally expect some plot holes in a quick listen/read like this, but it was kinda crazy to expect listeners/readers to follow along from never having looked at herself naked in a mirror to having lesbian sex in literally 5 minutes. Also, I'm happy to buy into the whole "girl power" thing, but the gun fighting is a bit too far fetched to let me enjoy the story.

The narration was ok, I didn't love the voice for sex scenes. The sound and editing were quality.

Deliciously Endearing

I enjoyed this one. I hadn't read/listened to any of the other books in the series, but it didn't take me long to catch up. I adored Ward for sticking with Lou and making her his top priority. It probably didn't hurt that there were plenty of rewards along the road ;)

I am curious about what kinds of antics Lou got up to at the estate, so I may go back and listen to the other books in this series.

The narration was great, quality sound and editing.

My Childhood Rewritten

These short stories were definitely a different take on the ones we heard as kids, and that's not a bad thing. My only complaint is that I wanted more from each story and to know what happens next. My favorite was the story about the Mermaids.
