Great story, poor narrator

I wish someone else would have read this book I realize the narrator probably wanted to do so, but he made which should've been a fantastic story extremely boring.

Rip off of the Last Mrs Parrish

For those who like "The Secret History"

I like a good murder mystery and this was a good one. Reminiscent of "Dead Poet's Society" & Donna Tartt's, "The Secret History". For those people, saying, the characters are insufferable because of all the Shakespeare dialogue, I think it's important to keep in mind they are supposed to be that way. They are pretentious, young and self-absorbed, theatre students so it's part of they storyline.

Good story narrator reads too slow

I really liked the story, but I had to listen at a higher speed because the narrator read at a painfully slow speed, which was annoying to get through. I've listened to her and other books and liked her, but it wasn't right for this story.

Nice story for adults and children

Audible offered this as a free download, and I thought it was a fun story to listen to. It was light and entertaining, and the stories were just long enough to get the details without erroneous information.

Author goes off topic and down other rabbit holes

The author focuses more about PSD in soldiers and the failures of the city of New Orleans response to Hurricane Katrina then it does about the murder suicide of Zack and Addie. Well both of these topics are in important, I felt disappointed because that is not what I was interested in when I decided to listen to this book. If what you were interested in is this specific true crime story find a different author. I also didn't like how he victim blame Addie and her lifestyle and seem to glorify Zack.

Very satisfying if you want the background story

I was surprised that I like this story better than the Handmaid’s Tale. As far as the story you get to hear the background and it was a perfect read while waiting for the new season to begin. Regarding the performance, I liked that there were different women reading each of the characters. The fact that Ann Dowd (the actress that plays Aunt Lydia) read that character was a huge win. I would have given a perfect 5 for the performance but one of the characters read SO s l o w that I had to change the speed up to 2x when she read so I wouldn’t lose my mind.
