Historia
Major Ian Thomas, a British theologian and teacher and the founder of Torchbearers Bible Schools, spent seven exhausting years trying to live for Christ when he realized that God actually just wanted to live through him. He offered this extremely simple advice in considering the Christian life: Go where you are sent, stay where you are put, and do what you are asked. With her trademark warmth and keen sense of humor, esteemed Bible study teacher Jill Briscoe follows Major Thomas' example to help listeners learn how to allow God to live through them.

Bible Study
Revisado: 01-20-24
What turned me off was the narration. Definitely too fast and a bit preachy. Some of the themes were relevant and inspiring. The homework was a bit overwhelming. Overall, not a book I would recommend on audio but in hard copy might be an interesting Bible study for a small group.

Great humor interwoven with insights
Revisado: 11-26-21
I really enjoyed this book. It was quite funny in places, causing me to laugh out load. The story line, though, deals with aging, loss, betrayal, and renewal. I could really relate to the main character as she deals with loss and questions how long she’ll be able to maintain the family business with her brother. I understood her conflict between letting her son go to explore his own life and career with the desire to keep him close.
Love that it had a cliche but happy ending.

Historia
The biggest redwood trees are over 1,000 years old, rising more than 35 stories in what's left of the once-vast, ancient redwood forest. Believed to be impossible to ascend, these majestic giants have remained unexplored until recently, when a tiny group of daring botanists and amateur naturalists discovered a lost, dangerous, and hauntingly beautiful world high above California.

This is not the typical book I read but I must say it captivated me. I loved the way each person was brought into the story then slowly they all came together into a community with their love, fascination, and at times, obsession with the redwoods.
This book gave me a new love for the forests of Northern California.

Title misleading...

When I saw this title I nearly skipped investigation. I am glad that I didn't! This is really a charming book. It has lots of humor, laughed out loud frequently, and also explores the consequences of a poor self image. Well written with great narration. This is a fun read while addressing some serious underlying personal and familial issues.

Great book with phenomenal insight
Revisado: 10-12-16
I was totally amazed with the insight into infidelity in this book. The author does a superb job in portraying both the "other" woman and the wife perspectives. Although I am more familiar with being the wife, I thought that the author provided a comprehensive and realistic portrayal of both roles. A great listen. Well done!

They fell wildly in love or went their separate ways. They kissed or they thought better of it. They married soon after or were together for a few weeks before splitting up. They grew distracted and disappointed with their daily lives together or found solace together only after hard years spent apart.

Worth sticking with
Revisado: 06-08-16
I really enjoyed listening to this novel. I was intrigued by the format, three different outcomes, and was not disappointed. At first it was difficult to follow. You really do get three different scenarios with the same characters but making different decisions leading to different lives of the two main characters. As the stories progressed, though, it was easier to follow, perhaps because you become more acquainted with the three story lines. I think for anyone who ever wondered "if I had not followed this path what would my life be like now?" this book is a fulfillment of that fantasy. I also liked the way the author tied it all together towards the end for both of the main characters with the insight that every decision we make during our lives has an impact on our future.
