Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

This is an amazing book, as it penetrates the incredible life of a girl who has been abandoned. I do not wish to give away too much. Please know that I recommend this as the single most penetrating books.

Historia
No strangers to evil, criminal profiler Reni Fisher and detective Daniel Ellis both still grapple with traumatizing pasts. It unites them. So has a crime they must solve before someone else dies. At a campsite on California’s Pacific Crest Trail, a guide is murdered and three young hikers vanish without a trace. The only lead is a puzzle in itself: a video of the crime scene, looking eerily staged, uploaded to social media. The girl who posted it can’t be found. Is it a viral hoax gone unspeakably wrong, or is there something more sinister at play in the forest?

Another distraction that I loved
Revisado: 02-19-23
This provides a nice release from all of the fears of losing our democracy (I'm for keeping it, by the way) and it reveals the deeply troubled backgrounds of the main characters. I look forward to more of this series, and anything in the Ann Frasier books.

Nearly a perfect break from so much politics
Revisado: 02-19-23
I am of the democratic leaning (also a Democrat) yet I am suffering from far too much info at the moment. I listen to novels, moving backwards to listen to previous chapters as I walk for miles and miles each day and often find myself distracted. This one is one of the top ones during my past couple of weeks. There's essentially no discussion about Covid -- I'm not against discussing it, but i need a break -- and there's no political associations made therein. Yet, it delves into a variety of points of view of the characters. In the end, it is not a perfect book, but I'd sure recommend it to anyone (to everyone) who needs a break!

Historia
When 18-year-old Chloe Emery returns to her West London home she finds her mother missing, the house covered in blood. Everything points to murder, except for one thing: there’s no sign of the body. London detective Maeve Kerrigan and the homicide team turn their attention to the neighbours. The ultra-religious Norrises are acting suspiciously; their teenage daughter and Chloe Emery definitely have something to hide. Then there’s William Turner, once accused of stabbing a schoolmate and the neighborhood’s favorite criminal. Is he merely a scapegoat?

All of my senses, my soul, completely taken
Revisado: 04-03-21
There are few books that I have elected to read again and
again, but this is one of them. Everything about these few cops intrigues. Their work, their hidden, and their obvious flaws make them completely real. The story might be the weakest link -- only in that it exists to elaborate on the subtle and the outright sins of the characters pulled into this story. Do not pass this book by. I will not attempt to summarize, as doing so will merely unfairly lesson the impact of listening.

Close to the best escape
Revisado: 02-03-20
Oh, how I needed this story. The first few chapters were incredible and did their proper trick to take my mind off the horrid things happening in our real world. There's no point in going into detail, just know that this is a nearly perfectly executed thriller. Perhaps it wasn't realistic, but I just needed to decamp for a few days and this did the trick.

I've learned to expect so much more from this writer. Perhaps this is a follow-on book to another, but still it lacks consistency of development and forces the ending.

Revisado: 01-12-20
This book has great moments. I had trouble adapting to it due to changes in perspectives that I wasn't expecting. The fundamental basis for this book -- prisons house some Innocents, and they never win freedom from death row -- is extremely important and we'll told by Grisholm.

The story is a bit weak
Revisado: 08-18-19
I love Lisa Gardner, but this just came across as a bit weak in its story. It was good, though, and perhaps others will like it better than I did. I believe my mood and needs have been shifting due to our political reality. I have read lots of non-fiction books lately. The whole thing about the damage that people do to families by not telling the truth is important, but this really stretched that to an incredulous degree.

Perhaps the personalities are too developed?
Revisado: 08-18-19
I recall how tremendous 5 reviews have been when I make them, and I'm only giving this 4's for everything. This doesn't mean that I won't read another. Nick Petrie is a favorite of mine. I actually heard this twice, perhaps because I was mostly asleep last time, and perhaps I ran into a true 5 book and dropped this without thinking back on it at all. I liked all the personality development, and mostly understood the events, but it was just not quite as good as I needed it to be. Still, the weaknesses are all in the personality development area -- for once there is actually, possibly, too much of that! This is not what I would normally think, as I always want to understand all the characters. So if you have loads of patience and a need for personality to be explained and understood, I recommend this. I never summarize books. That's for the more articulate ones to do.
