What did you love best about The Highway?

Have always been a Box fan. Although a departure from prior books, it's almost as though he has recreated himself. I have known bimbos as depicted here. Thank God I have never encountered the evil portrayed within. I sense that C. J. is a devout man and abhors it with his whole soul.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Highway?

A father doing what a father should do. An individual gathering unknown strength and courage from within to conquer ultimate evil.

Which scene was your favorite?

Gracies unshakeable resolve and determination.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Devil. You don't have a chance even in your own hell.

I like Johnstone western novels. BUT not this one

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Yeh. Go back to boots and saddles stories. Flying machines??? Shame on you.

Would you ever listen to anything by William W. Johnstone and J. A. Johnstone again?

Yeh. I love good westerns.

What aspect of Jack Garrett’s performance would you have changed?

Don't change a hair for me, not if you care for me.

Subpar for Zane

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Friends - Read Zane Grey but don't read this one. No gal in her right mind would ever act like this 'heroine?'.

Which character – as performed by Jim Roberts – was your favorite?

Jim did a good job with all of the characters.

Have always liked Zane. But this was pathetic and unrealistic.

What did you love best about Third Degree?

To be honest, I loved best when it finished.

What about David Colacci’s performance did you like?

This guy is a pro. Inflection, pace, enunciation all great.

The promo lines made it sound more like a detective/thriller genre story. It's not. It's a psychological morass.

The story drags somewhat but Iles is a wordsmith and for that he earned the four stars.

Would you listen to Farewell My Lovely again? Why?

Chandler, Hammet, Ross Macdonald, John D. McDonald - They all knew what good writing was about. You don't have to write a thousand pages to tell a great story. And this narrator had the character nailed.

Yes I've listened before. He knows his art well.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes - absolutely.

Laborious

I quit listening to it three times and then picked it again and again. As I said in the title, it was laborious. Time well spent? I guess the answer is no.

It ended as it should.

One of the 10 best in the business.

Did The Hunters inspire you to do anything?

Yes it did. I had also purchased the Hostage but now will not listen to it.

Contrived - Expected Better

What disappointed you about Thief?

He decides not to do what they require and then does it anyway?? The moon festival - the drug - the outcasting. Come on, make it real.

What was most disappointing about Mark Sullivan’s story?

As I said the story was contrived and even that was done poorly.

Which character – as performed by Jeff Gurner – was your favorite?

The narrator was splendid. All of the characters were portrayed as I would imagine.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Human beings only have a limited number of minutes allotted to them. I wasted several of mine listening to this.

A Nancy Drew Story?

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

For one thing, different narrators might move it up a notch. They made the detectives sound like 10 year olds.

The detectives.

I have enjoyed Dean's novels. But either the so-called-narrators or the books premise were terribly weak.
