I love Frieda McFadden books! Some a little more than others, but I think this one sits at number 2.

Historia
Deep in the rugged Appalachians of North Carolina lies the cove, a dark, forbidding place where spirits and fetches wander, and even the light fears to travel. Or so the townsfolk of Mars Hill believe - just as they know that Laurel Shelton, the lonely young woman who lives within its shadows, is a witch. Alone except for her brother, Hank, newly returned from the trenches of France, she aches for her life to begin. Then it happens - a stranger appears, carrying nothing but a beautiful silver flute and a note explaining that his name is Walter....

Love this Author
Revisado: 08-07-23
Although not my favorite Ron Rash writing, still a good read. The narrator seemed a little robotic at first, but I loved how her accent flowed with the story. I wish there was more emphasis on the plot, but altogether a good story to listen to while I work.

Pleased
Revisado: 07-19-23
This book is my 4th Freida McFadden and it didn’t disappoint. Although I found the main character annoying throughout the book, it mostly came together in the end. I didn’t have a prediction reading this, which kept me engaged. Narration was perfect, as Leslie always is!

Liked, but not Loved

While I LOVE this author, I was slightly disappointed with this story. I found the main character to be annoying and indecisive. I did find the epilogue quite interesting though! I thought it added a nice spin to the story.

Mixed Emotions
Revisado: 05-11-23
The original synopsis didn’t catch my eye very much but a friend picked it for me. I think there were too many characters and parts of the story had unnecessary chapters about irrelevant and/or points that could’ve been summed up in a few sentences. But overall I did like all the main characters except the antagonist, although their story line was interesting. I felt the main plot was apparent throughout the book, but I enjoyed learning about all the different characters. Would’ve read again, but would definitely recommend to a friend.

I loved everything about this book! The only change I would’ve made was the ending seemed to come from left field. Hundreds of years in depression then suddenly you’re okay?

Historia
Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better? In The Midnight Library, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision.

Historia
It's not safe for anyone alone in the woods. There are predators that come out at night: critters and coyotes, snakes and wolves. But the woman in the red jacket has no choice. Not since the Crisis came, decimated the population, and sent those who survived fleeing into quarantine camps that serve as breeding grounds for death, destruction, and disease. She is just a woman trying not to get killed in a world that doesn't look anything like the one she grew up in, the one that was perfectly sane and normal and boring until three months ago.

Enjoyable, but..
Revisado: 07-17-21
I love Christina Henry’s, Alice, it my FAVORITE book. The Girl in Red was interesting, but what I liked most from Alice was the story line kept reflecting the Alice in Wonderland story line slightly (only the first book of the trilogy,) and I would’ve like The Girl in Red to reflect more of Red Riding Hood. But the story line in general was interesting!
