Historia
In the tradition of Shadow Divers, the story of the courageous men who dived on the last sunken U-Boat off the Eastern Seaboard. On April 16, 1944, the tanker SS Pan Pennsylvania was torpedoed and sunk by the U-550. In return the sub was sent to the bottom by three destroyer escorts that were guarding the convoy. For more than 60 years the location of the U-boat's wreck eluded divers. In 2012 a team found it.

Good book, I recommend it. It strives to live up to Shadow Divers, but it tries too hard. The author should have focused on just this own story and not tried to recreate the Shadow Diver story. Some of the content feels very forced for this reason. generally though a good story. The author could have just focused his own story instead of mimicking another one.

Not worth the trouble.
Revisado: 10-12-24
Doesn't really cover the topic of how to deal with negotiating with the devil. Very subjective and the descriptive stories are much more cereal and soap opera then relatable real world stories. His final example story could have easily been several episodes of All My children, very unrelatable and highly unrealistically portrayed. At one point he juxtaposes a business deal conflict with the Palestinian desire to exterminate all Jews, completely invalidating any value his story was providing; an irrational and unrealistic comparison by any measure diminishing the value of the story completely.
He clearly has a good background in arbitration and negotiation, unfortunately his stories distract from this completely. With a book titled as such, one would expect relatable stories about when and when not to negotiate based on mechanisms to measure the security of those across the table from you. This book does not provide anything along those lines, it's only stories from the writers perspective that have been highly novelized at best. No tangible tools are provided to help the reader better understand how to identify sincere opposition parties compared to those that are insincere. The poor use of the cliche character of Mr spot from Star Trek also became extremely distracting.
Save yourself some time and just find a fictional novel to read, you're likely to learn more about negotiating with the devil there and you will here.

Many experts have offered techniques on how to improve your own memory, but not how to influence other people's memory. Drawing on the latest research in neuroscience and cognitive psychology, Impossible to Ignore is a practical step-by-step guide that will show you how to control the 10 percent that your audiences do remember by creating content that attracts attention, sharpens recall, and guides behavior toward a desired action.

Good content, author broke all their own rules making the content Impossible to Remember.
Revisado: 09-05-24
I really enjoyed the material, what I can retain of it at least, but the author completely botched the book by not applying most of the rules outlined in the book. Instead, we get a patchwork of ADD content all over the place, incongruent with the objective of the theme, making retrieval of key points difficult at best. The topics are very poorly organized and eclectic in outline make a dizzying patchwork of material, like a quilt without a pattern. It's quite sad as the material was generally good, but lack coherent organization to aide in retention. I wish I could give the book a better rating, but if I have to review content like this multiple times to retain the basics the author is attempting to instill, the author failed. I will move onto another author and skip other books by this one. My time is far too valuable to be wasted on on that can't organize thoughts on a topic about how to help audiences retain thoughts on a topic.

Too many workplaces are driven by cynicism, paranoia, and self-interest. But the best ones foster trust and cooperation because their leaders build what Sinek calls a "Circle of Safety" that separates the security inside the team from the challenges outside. Sinek illustrates his ideas with fascinating true stories that range from the military to big business, from government to investment banking.

Don't waste your time, very disappointed in Sinek.
Revisado: 01-03-24
Complete drivel, in some cases incoherent themes, inappropriate analogies, on and on. There are a few morsels of worthy information/facts, but they are so few and far in-between the chatter, and in many cases used counter to their value, that they are rendered inert. I finally had to stop listening when Sinek literally blamed Ronald Reagan for all forward going layoff after the layoff of the Air Traffic Controllers, a blatant misrepresentation of the facts of the case with a disconnected thread forced between every layoff after that and Reagan's actions to stop an out of control union from risking lives and the economy for very indincere union demands. Very sad book especially considering other worthy works he has done. Will be asking Audible for my money back on this one. Simon doesn't deserve the sale and audible should discard this book to the clearance bin bargains.

Narration extremely distracting, plot terrible...
Revisado: 09-08-23
Not what I've come to expect from a Firefly novel. Narration was horrible, the dueling narrators made the book almost intolerable, especially the extremely poorly done Southern accent provided by the female narrator. At times I wanted to completely discontinue the book for this reason alone. Plot and writing was really subpar for this particular novel and not up to my expectations from the previous novels. The story was difficult to follow and the Target character of the effort by the serenity crew the female lead, if you will, was extremely annoying and made no sense throughout the entire book. The overuse of cliches from the series was extremely distracting as well and seemed to be a crutch that the author was dependent on to progress the lack of plot. One could have simply just cut and pasted these cliches out of every episode to make this story complete. I do not recommend this book.

Captivating from beginning to end. I felt drawn into the story and found myself immersed in the various scenes as if I were there. Amazing horrifying how delicate our security can be and the reason I hope and pray that people like Navarro exist in our various government agencies, bureaucracies, and even elected branches to balance out the scales of justice in all of our benefit.

Every leader must be ready and willing to take charge, to make hard, crucial calls for the good of the team and the mission. Something much more difficult to understand is that in order to be a good leader, one must also be a good follower. This is a dichotomy - a Dichotomy of Leadership. It is, as authors Jocko Willink and Leif Babin explained in their best-selling first audiobook, Extreme Ownership, “Simple, Not Easy”.

Loved Extreme Ownership...this one is garbage.
Revisado: 06-10-23
Read/listen to Extreme Ownership, skip Dichotomy of Leadership. Complete garbage. Most topics are poorly rehashed/recycled topics from EO, but I am guessing someone else wrote this book. Horrible writing; the 'real life experiences' give a very clearly contrived allegory feeling not rooted in real life experiences where as in EO, the stories came across as personal reflections of the author. For example there are multiple unrealistic feeling reflections of interactions with corporations that no normal executive would tolerate the consultant behavior depicted, and a couple included references to Project Managers by an author that clearly has no actual understanding of what a Project Manager does nor the relationship between a Project Manager and the stakeholders, the sponsors, or the resources used in a project, nor how actual project timelines function or are managed. I had to stop half way through the book and forced myself that far. There are also numerous blatant misuses of the english language that just make me scratch my head; made up words, what many would call 'Bushisms' littered throughout the book, not in conversation but in the book text content that just left me bewildered as to who authored this book juxtaposed to who authored the first. So disappointing after the wonderful Extreme Ownership.
Don't waste your time. Not worth the read.

Complete lack of understanding the original characters mixed with an inability to develop a coherent plot. I've read scores of Star Trek books and seen everything on the screen and this had no relative bearing on the original series and any meaningful way. Gave up about halfway through the story; was just too grating to tolerate.
