Historia
I'm a greaser girl from Novaria. I know my way around an engine room. And I never got close to anyone. Much less a serious relationship. As for Swipt? The handsome alien pirate that rescued me says I'm his mate. Fated. Destined to be together. Kind of a big commitment. But he's...different. Swipt is strong. He challenges me. Excites me. Pisses me off. But maybe I need that kind of fire. Maybe it's what I've been missing.

Fun, silly, rom com with spice

Overall I’m enjoying this series. I’m kinda digging the Zap Branagin/Captain Kirk male voice. I only took points off because I think you should just pick a term for, well, sexual parts and stick with it. A thesaurus tour of words takes me out of it.

Historia
Outside Los Angeles, a driver pulls up to find a young woman sitting on a large black box. She offers him $200,000 cash to transport her and that box across the country, to Washington, DC. But there are rules: He cannot look inside the box. He cannot ask questions. He cannot tell anyone. They must leave immediately. He must leave all trackable devices behind. As these eccentric misfits hit the road, rumors spread on social media that the box is part of a carefully orchestrated terror attack intended to plunge the USA into civil war.

Good narration, very controversial

Ironically (or coincidentally) my brother in law and I were just talking about some of the themes present in the book just before I started it re: social media, division, and loneliness. He is currently a social media teetotaler.

Historia
A romantic weekend at Marlow House Bed and Breakfast turns deadly when Earthbound Spirits founder, Peter Morris, is murdered. Plenty of people had a reason to want the man dead - especially Danielle's current guests. But it isn't Morris' ghost distracting Danielle on this deadly Valentine's Day weekend, it's her late husband, Lucas. She has her hands full with suitors coming from all directions - both living and dead - while she tries to figure out if there's a killer in Marlow House.

Story still more interesting than the delivery
Revisado: 01-09-24
The structure is getting a little better each time, which is good. But there are certain phrases that no one says, like “Four O’ clock PM” that sound super clunky.
The cops in these books are the worst. So incompetent. It is a little wild that all the pop culture references are 2015/16. It just seems so long ago now. I shall keep on chugging along in the series!

There are some pretty glaring errors and structure issues, but it’s a fun story and I can’t stop listening. The cop characters are unbelievably dumb.

The dialogue is just so stilted and some of the characters actions are unbelievably naive. Like Danielle, yes! Get a lawyer girl. Every damn time. Keep them on retainer. Jfc.

Interesting cozy ghosts but missing something
Revisado: 01-02-24
The series is entertaining, but frustrating. The characters do intentionally stupid things and the cops are obtuse. The dialogue can be clumsy and clunky. There’s a lot of potential, so I hope they get better, but so far they’re free so I can’t complain too much.

Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Great action!
Revisado: 11-28-23
Honestly I was a little wary, because sometimes popular reads can miss the mark but this is a really solid book. It’s like Dragonheart meets Harry Potter.
It was paced really well, and the narrator kept my attention. There are some frustratingly melodramatic moments BUT the payoff is worth it. Will be starting on the second book shortly.

Satisfying reintro to the Lion
Revisado: 05-01-23
A enjoyable reintroduction to the Lion, and exploration of father/son relationships. Narration was good, and the acting for the different characters wasn’t jarring. While I love John Banks as Roubute, I’m glad they went with a different narrator to be the Lion’s voice.
The opening was on the surreal side, which is fine and works, but it picks up pretty quickly. Can’t wait for the next!

Overall pretty good
Revisado: 01-16-23
The problems aren’t with the story itself, which has some really good and poignant moments; just the whole inching along to the big showdown we know is coming.
BUT, as per usual, ADB books are a treat. He really takes the time to delve into the character motivations and perspectives, while allowing them emotional growth.
I’d love a whole series of stories about Land and his monkey.
