Garbage
Revisado: 11-08-24
I cannot believe this has such high reviews. It is terrible. Just plain annoying, unintelligent, shallow, cheap, trashy, vulgar.

A massively nuanced classic piece of fiction!
Revisado: 04-18-24
My first time reading JP was in 1993. I was blown away by the layers of nuanced commentary on relevant topics & equally fascinated by the intricate storytelling. Entertaining & thoughtful. The story
takes a tyrannical bite out of boredom every time!

It is now six years since the secret disaster at Jurassic Park; six years since that extraordinary dream of science and imagination came to a crashing end - the dinosaurs destroyed, the park dismantled, the island indefinitely closed to the public. There are rumors that something has survived.

Worst narrator ever!
Revisado: 04-12-16
I've read The Lost World many times. It is another well written & fascinating story by Michael Crichton. Recently I've been driving more & more for my job. To pass the time I downloaded several audiobooks by some of my favorite authors. The performance of the narrator for this book was absolutely infuriating. I could barely tolerate his voice, acting, impressions, & other noises he made. I will not listen to any more audiobooks that he narrates. Other than that the story itself was awesome.

Historia
The Kingston Trio’s folk song “Tom Dooley” tells the story of the murder of Laura Foster, a simple country girl involved with returning Confederate soldier Tom Dula. But Tom was also engaged in a passionate affair with his childhood sweetheart, the beautiful - and married - Ann Melton. One May morning in 1866, Laura Foster stole her father’s horse and left home, telling a neighbor that she was eloping to Tennessee. Three months later, her body was found in a shallow grave only a few hundred yards from where she was last seen.

Excellent ballad, interesting, captivating, albeit slightly depressing
Revisado: 04-11-16
I really enjoyed both of the narrators acting. They easily had me convinced that they were living in 1866 & were the characters whose voices they portrayed. My only complaint is, the story was slightly repetitive in some parts.I suppose that is in keeping with a true ballad. Which is why I Gave it 5 stars. The story was captivating & the female characters had all the charms of a modern day soap opera. I loved it. Kept my attention & even kept me guessing. I am becoming a big fan of McCrumb's novels & writings. Her attention to detail & history is excellent. Her characters are damaged yet fascinating to watch.
