Historia
For eons, Earth has been under observation by the Firstborn, beings almost as old as the universe itself. The Firstborn are unknown to humankind - until they act. In an instant, Earth is carved up and reassembled like a huge jigsaw puzzle. Suddenly the planet and every living thing on it no longer exist in a single timeline.

Great concept, poor delivery.
Revisado: 10-01-20
I am a fan of ACC's work, and I enjoyed his collaboration with Baxter, in The Light of Other Days. This one, feels a little dated and it drags a little. The characters are not very well developed, and (SPOILER-ALERT) they end up killing off the more interesting ones. Despite this tenuous start, I am going to take a swing at books 2 & 3: call it optimistic loyalty for ACC. I look forward to being surprised!

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he’s alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. But Mark isn't ready to give up yet.

Fun optimistic view of humanity at our best
Revisado: 09-03-20
Star Trek eat your heart out! Weir spins a very geeky and technical hard sci-fi romp with humor and a ton of heart. Wheaton delivers the goods with his unmatched style and timing. Am I the only one who finds it funny (and mildly scandalous) when Ensign Crusher curses?

Great story! Also enjoyed the narrator and production.
Don't understand the point of the remaining chapters, after the tale is told? 4-5 chapters of fx music?
Again, what's the point?

Historia
God's Debris isn't a conventional book. It is written on three separate levels, by Scott Adams, better known as the creator of the Dilbert comic. What is less known about Adams is that he's a trained hypnotist. God's Debris is what happens when creativity and hypnosis intersect. On the surface, God's Debris is a simple fictional story of a delivery man who encounters an Avatar who knows literally everything.

Historia
Welcome to Ringworld, an intermediate step between Dyson Spheres and planets. The gravitational force created by a rotation on its axis of 770 miles per second means no need for a roof. Walls 1,000 miles high at each rim will let in the sun and prevent much air from escaping. Larry Niven's novel, Ringworld, is the winner of the 1970 Hugo Award for Best Novel, the 1970 Nebula Award for Best Novel, and the 1972 Ditmars, an Australian award for Best International Science Fiction.

Interesting Premise, Awful Story
Revisado: 05-29-18
Like many so called "classics", Ringworld presents the reader with a novel concept, for which it utterly fails to deliver a compelling story.
The merifully limited cast of characters are flat and unsympathetic. They seem to be shoddily constructed afterthoughts, that are inconsistent and shallow, with one dimensional motivations that quickly grow tiresome.
The author repeats himself frequesntly: often using the exact same sentences or phrases within a few lines of each other. I found myself rewinding, wondering if the Audible file had been somehow corrupted. Nope, Parker was reading as written; repetitions and all.
On the subject of Tom Parker's performance: all I can say is uninspiring. Thumper's mom's rule prevents me from saying anymore.
While I like to follow series as they develop upon themes and create new ideas with each successive volume: I find myself left with zero interest in delving further into Niven's pale and unimaginative universe.
If you feel the need to experience this classic, I'd suggest reading the Wikipedia page, which is short, pithy and brief: characteristics sorely missing from the source material.

Stoner knew. The fiery object hurtling toward the Earth was an alien spacecraft. But the world might never know. He was trapped in an iron cordon of secrecy, for the discovery had shattered the world power balance, setting off a brutal struggle for supremacy that raged from the sacred halls of the Vatican to the corridors of the Kremlin and the Pentagon. The forces of fear and treachery would use any weapon at their command, from mind war to sabotage, to keep the world in darkness.

Revisado: 05-27-18
Flat unsympathetic characters. Hopelessly chauvinistic. Dated cold-war plot, clumsily executed. Zero interest in rest of the series. Quite frankly, I think I'll avoid further Bova work. There are so many more promising and talented authors worthy of my attention.

Historia
There has never been another writer quite like Douglas Adams; witty, funny and brilliantly eloquent on a gargantuan number of topics. The Salmon of Doubt brims with the Adams trademarks: thought-provoking, silly and insanely original writings in an all-new never-before-published collection. For the millions of readers who expressed their grief and shock at his untimely death, this is it: his final book and our last chance to see new work from an acknowledged comic genius of our time.

Young Cayleb Ahrmahk has accomplished things few people could even dream of. Not yet even thirty years old, he’s won the most crushing naval victories in human history. He’s smashed a hostile alliance of no less than five princedoms and won the hand of the beautiful young Queen Sharleyan of Chisholm. Cayleb and Sharleyan have created the Charisian Empire, the greatest naval power in the history of Safehold, and they’ve turned Charis into a place of refuge for all who treasure freedom.

Very Long Story, Very Little Happens
Revisado: 09-21-16
Seemingly endless descriptions of naval action does little to advance the plot. Perhaps if I knew, or cared, what topsills are, I could garner a little more enthusiasm?
I feel like this and the last book are just so much filler. I can hear a Monty Pythonesque chorus of "get on with it!" I'm really struggling to maintain interest in the series.
Weber has created a great idea, with a likeable array of characters, but seems to be squandering it on pointless minutiae.
I am really starting to wonder if he is being paid by the word.
