This is the 2nd book I’ve listened to by this author. He is such a good storyteller. The plot surprises, the characters are real, and the mystery is intriguing. I loved it

I love Ian Moore’s books
Revisado: 12-05-23
Delightful story. Well written. I listen on Audible and Ian Moore’s narration is the best I’ve ever heard.
The stories are always clever and hilarious, made more so by the wacky variety of characters. They are endearing, funny and unique. I can’t wait to find out what they are up to next.

A look at lives deeply affected by WW 2
Revisado: 11-17-23
This story kept me interested. The characters were well developed and I felt like I knew these people. It was interesting to realize that the main characters decisions and actions taken at a time of great difficulty could pull me into their lives so completely. They were not angels, but real humans doing the best they could at the time under impossible circumstances.

Historia
In the opening pages of Jamie Ford's stunning debut, Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, Henry Lee comes upon a crowd gathered outside the Panama Hotel, once the gateway to Seattle's Japantown. It has been boarded up for decades, but now the new owner has made an incredible discovery: the belongings of Japanese families, left when they were rounded up and sent to internment camps during World War II. As Henry looks on, the owner opens a Japanese parasol.

Historia
The one rule bookshop owner and widow Penelope Thornton-McClure has given ghostly, hard-boiled PI Jack Shepard is to not haunt the customers. But when the hot, young author Angel Stark arrives at the store to promote her latest true-crime novel, Jack can hardly contain himself. Angel's book is an unsolved mystery about a debutante found strangled to death, and it's filled with juicy details that point a finger at a number of people in the deb's high-society circle. But when the author winds up dead, too - in precisely the same way - Pen is fast on the case...which means Jack is, too.

Good story, breathy narration
Revisado: 03-19-23
I enjoyed both the 1st and 2nd books in this series. The narration was good, but the female narrator has a distracting characteristic. At the end of most words, she exhales. It’s odd. And annoying after a while. “Jack-ha”. Was this intentional? Part of her speech pattern? I don’t know but it started to get on my nerves

Searching through years of stored family heirlooms may be Whitney's only hope of quick cash.

Too much drama
Revisado: 12-06-22
The historical story of Alice and Able was wonderful. The descriptions of the past and present in the Outer Banks was very well done. However, the psychological machinations that the narrator (present day character) describes drove me crazy. Who obsesses about their own thoughts and anxieties that way!! How does she get anything accomplished in her life!
I gritted my teeth through those parts to get to the “good” part of the story
