Historia
Every time we eat, we have the power to radically transform the world we live in. Our choices can help alleviate the most pressing issues we face today: the climate crisis, infectious and chronic diseases, human exploitation and, of course, non-human exploitation. Undeniably, these issues can be uncomfortable to learn about but the benefits of doing so cannot be overstated. It is quite literally a matter of life and death.

Excellent!
Revisado: 02-15-22
This book is very well written. The author touches upon all the major points about veganism and provides a lot of information and citations for the reader that wishes to dig deeper into the science.
I hope many people read it with an open mind.
I wish I had read this book a decade ago.

Historia
In the tradition of Bertrand Russell's Why I Am Not a Christian and Sam Harris' The End of Faith, Christopher Hitchens makes the ultimate case against religion. With a close and erudite reading of the major religious texts, he documents the ways in which religion is a man-made wish, a cause of dangerous sexual repression and a distortion of our origins in the cosmos.

Historia
Food. There's plenty of it around, and we all love to eat it. So why should anyone need to defend it? Because in the so-called Western diet, food has been replaced by nutrients, and common sense by confusion—most of what we’re consuming today is longer the product of nature but of food science. The result is what Michael Pollan calls the American Paradox: The more we worry about nutrition, the less healthy we see to become.

Very weak arguments
Revisado: 08-20-20
I usually enjoy the author's books but this one has very weak arguments and falls flat. By deciding to sidestep and mischaracterize science the arguments he makes loose all substance.
Another problem is clumping together nutrition science and food industry interests as if they were the same. As if americans eat the way they eat because they listen to nutritional advice. He even misinterpreted what the lipid hypothesis consists of. I have never seen or heard of nutrition science defending substitution of saturated fats for refined sugars, both are bad for your health and both are eaten in huge quantities by the american public.
The problems we face in nutrition are clearly more complex than the author makes it to be.
The narrator is excellent.

Historia
Lewis Howes grew up as an athlete. He was a two-sport All-American and went on to play football professionally. Howes then transferred his competitive nature from sports to business, building his podcast, The School of Greatness, into a global phenomenon. But his whole identity was built on misguided beliefs about what "masculinity" was: dangerous, false ideas learned from teammates and coaches in locker rooms and stereotypes in the media. Like so many men, Howes grew up to be angry, frustrated, and always chasing something that was never enough.

Shallow
Revisado: 04-18-20
The narration is very good!
Unfortunately the content is very shallow and simple, even though the subject at hand is of utmost importance. Maybe for people who have never thought about the twisted masculinity we live in it can be an eye opener, so props for tackling the issue. But don't expect anything other than surface level insights.

not very informative
Revisado: 07-08-19
this book touches on an important subject that is of my interest, but it failed to capture my enthusiasm at all, for a few reasons.
Firstly there is a constant soundtrack throughout that is distracting and unnecessary.
Secondly, the interviews are way too long, often giving information irrelevant to the theme. The pacing is therefore dragged and dragged.
Thirdly, surprisingly, although the author says there are many statistics and studies and information about the disease, little is actually informed to the reader.
And at last, segments of interview are repeated sometimes during the program, which is really unnecessary considering it's a pretty short book anyway.
I don't recommend this title, although the subject at hand is very important and we should not overlook it.
