not impressed
Revisado: 08-26-19
This is a fine parenting book, but I can't get over the fact that it uses debunked ideas about the brain like left brain and right brain thinking. The overall message is good, that you should respect your kids and meet them where they are at, but I didn't need it wrapped up in pseudo-neuroscience.

Historia
The year is 1920: Flying in the face of convention, legendary American adventuress Beryl Helliwell never fails to surprise and shock. The last thing her adoring public would expect is that she craves some peace and quiet. The humdrum hamlet of Walmsley Parva in the English countryside seems just the ticket. And, honestly, until America comes to its senses and repeals Prohibition, Beryl has no intention of returning stateside and subjecting herself to bathtub gin.

Excellent who-dunnit mystery, just like classics
Revisado: 05-31-19
This was an excellent fun who-dunnit mystery. I love Agatha Christie novels and this novel was written in a very similar vein. I hope this author writes more! I highly recommend it for anyone who likes classic mysteries. The "detectives" are two strong women who have a feminist bent and are very entertaining, fun characters.

Not for me

Book obnoxiously assumes that I am male
Revisado: 04-26-17
What disappointed you about The Solution to Social Anxiety: Break Free from the Shyness That Holds You Back?
I thought I could ignore it, but it really got on my nerves after a while. This book constantly refers to the reader as a heterosexual man, and it frustrated me to no end, as I am not that.Nowhere in the description does it say that this book is for males or heterosexuals, and his research has been done on women as well as men, so I don't understand why he felt the need to direct his book solely to men. It is obnoxious and made the book unreadable for me.
Would you ever listen to anything by Dr. Aziz Gazipura, PsyD again?
Maybe, if he stops assuming that his reader is a certain gender.
Any additional comments?
The actually advice on social anxiety was fine. The narration was a bit slow, but also fine.

Take one bored princess. Make her the seventh daughter in a very proper royal family. Have her run away. Add one powerful, fascinating, dangerous dragon. Princess Cimerone has never met anyone (or anything) like the dragon Kazul. But then, she's never met a witch, a jinn, a death-dealing talking bird or a stone prince either. Princess Cimerone ran away to find some excitement. She's found plenty.

Hard to understand the narrator
Revisado: 04-16-16
What did you love best about The Mysterious Affair at Styles?
Good solid mystery story, although I've read more compelling ones. Maybe I didn't enjoy it as much, though, because of the narration.
How could the performance have been better?
His accent for Poirot was too strong, and it was hard to understand. Otherwise his narration was fine.
